Chris Morris’ brilliant Pixies parody, “Motherbanger”.
A ha ha a ha ha, me momma is un hora
A ha ha a ha ha, me espanol is really poora
My top five:
They Ain’t Makin Jews Like Jesus Anymore by Kinky Friedman
Ol’ Ben Lucas ditto
The Curley Shuffle by The Jump In The Saddle Band
The Scotsman Song
Wet Dream
Since nobody else has mentioned it, I have to put in a word for one of Firesign Theatre’s most obscure albums, Fighting Clowns. It’s an entire album of songs, mostly 70s and 80s political humor.
Now your a man by DVDA.
Human Slaves to an Insect Nation artist unknown
Karate by Tenacious D
Special Fred by Stephen Lynch
I’m amazed at how many people can listen to Meatloaf’s ‘Two Out Of Three Ain’t Bad’ and keep a straight face. That song HAS to be a joke!
(paraphrase of lyrics)
“I don’t love you but I like you, babe, and I’ll even sleep with you. Hey. Two out of three, honey. That ain’t bad…”
I find this hysterical.
They’re short, but Monty Pythons’ The Legend of Brave Sir Robin (from *Monty Python and the Holy Grail) and the Philosophers’ Drinking Song (don’t know where they included it) are just great IMHO.
Some right wing patriot might hate me for this, but “Ballad of the Green Berets” makes me crack up! It is just so over the top with the hyper militaristic thing! I can just imagine all the old conservatives in 1966 (or whenever it came out) listening to this and swearing about all the damned commie pinko hippies!
In all fairness, some of the “left wing” protest songs were just as hokey…“Eve of Destruction” being one that comes to mind.
What was that old Roger Miller tune about the skydive?
Can anyone help me out here?
The Earl of Bayswater, a traditional rugby song. The words are unutterably filthy, but absolutely hilarious, so I’ll only post one line here:
They hired a coal miner
To find her vagina…
Do a Google search on the title if you’re interested in the rest.
By the way, Human Slaves to an Insect Nation is by the really seriously brilliant musical genius and stand-up comedian Bill Bailey.
I’ve just remembered “Santa Claus” by Aussie comedian Kevin Bloody Wilson.
He’s describing the magical moment of creeping downstairs on Christmas morning to watch his little kids unwrapping their presents when they don’t know there’s anyone watching them. His five year-old son finishes unwrapping all his presents, then says:
Santa Claus you c_nt!
Where’s my f_cking bike?
I’ve unwrapped all the other junk,
There’s nothing here I like.
I wrote a f_cking letter,
I came to see you twice!
You worn-out geriatric fart
You forgot my f_cking bike!
(I have a tawdry sense of humour.)
Jesus Was Way Cool by King Missile
Mens room in LA by Kinky Friedman and Ringo Starr
The Asshole Song by Jimmy Buffet
At A Medium Pace - Adam Sandler
That reminds me…
Jesus Was A Capricorn - Kris Kristofferson
“Moon Pie” - Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers
This was one of those “Hey, the tapes are still rolling so let’s just sing some goofy stuff.”
Available only on the Playback box set.
Deb, may I say you have excellent taste? I love singing and playing that song!
Q
I totally forgot about The Man Song! That was so great! Oh the memories…
I always thought “Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer” was pretty funny. Especially the part about how her silvery blue hair matched the candles, or something along that line. I know its kinda for little kids but it’s still funny.
Frank Zappa was mentioned, but not done justice…
My Guitar Wants To Kill Your Mama
Bwana Dik (“My dick is a harley…you kick it to start”…lol)
Billy The Mountain
Stink Foot
Cheepnis
Disco Boy
The Illinois Enema Bandit
Broken Hearts Are For Assholes
I’m So Cute
Bobby Brown
Jewish Princess
Catholic Girls
Dong Work For Yuda
Titties ‘N’ Beer
In France
Stevie’s Spanking
We’re Turning Again
…to name a few.
Amazed no one mentioned Theme from Orgazmo by Trey Parker. I am listening to it now - very funny.
