Strangely enough, I actually saw something like that happen in real life. My parents were having problems with squirrels so they put a hav-a-hart trap in their attic. They caught a squirrel and we brought the trap out on the porch so we could take the squirrel out in the woods later and set him free.
But we could hear the squirrel banging around in the trap. So we started watching him through a window. As we were watching the squirrel crawled into the trap gate on his back and pushed the gate open with his front paws and wiggled out of the trap. It was incredibly impressive - like watching a furry little Steve McQueen.
