Saw this thread while searching for topics related to handwriting. Of course, it naturally led me to wonder, “what’s the largest cheque (check) you’ve ever cashed (or deposited)?” The largest you’ve ever seen cashed would also be quite appropriate. These would be checks (cheques) made out to a person rather than a business-related cheque (check), I think.
As far as I know, the largest check (cheque) I’ve ever received was for $5,000, which came from my Ma when I was in some financial difficulty.
The largest I’ve ever seen cashed was by a colleague who earned a commission cheque (check) on the sale of a large apartment building. It was for about $400,000.
Only once have I ever banked a large cheque and it was for $22,750.00 it hit the bank stayed there for 7 days and then came out again to pay the deposit on our house
The largest item I’ve ever cashed - technically it wasn’t a check (or a cheque), but a debit, that totaled $18,000, but that didn’t belong to me, it was for the store I managed and the store up the road that I was covering for as manager while that manager was on vacation. Either way, I walked out of the bank with $18,000 in cash.
Personally, the largest check I’ve ever cashed was for $1500, the largest I’ve ever deposited was around $5000.
Does the check have to belong to you? If not, I’ve deposited a check for $250,000.00 into my boss’s family savings account–it was his quarterly dividend from one of his companies.
Deposited a check for $32,000, then turn around and had wrote a check for $40,000. A house purchase.
Last week I went to the ATM in my building and someone had left an ATM receipt on top of the machine. They had withdrawn $100. Their new balance was in excess of $350,000.
I had a temp job once at a Trust company in downtown Boston. My job was to deposit checks into the various trusts and send them to the bank. I deposited many, many checks in excess of $50,000 into the trusts. One check really stood out though. It was for over $1,500,000. It took extra special care when depositing that one.
Used to work Tax for a Fortune 100 company. It wasn’t my money. It was money moving from said company to the IRS. It was my job to deliver the check. By hand.
Did I have to deposit it myself? If so, then $1.98 million.
I received a check from the world’s 2nd largest soft drink manufacturer in error. They had put my name instead of my employers name on the monthly payment for services rendered by our company.
In order for my employer to deposit it, I had to co-sign it with them.
It was one of the most depressing things I’ve ever done, handing over that check…
