What's the last song you heard and liked instantly?

Dark Waltz

Hot Knife

Me too. I just heard it for the first time on the radio Friday, and again yesterday.

It doesn’t sound like anything I’d normally listen to, but I love it. I’ve been busy the past couple of days, so I didn’t get a chance to listen to anything more by her until just now. Just listened to “Biting Down” and “Bravado,” and am totally taken with her.

I don’t know the name of it. There is a piece that I’ve heard during a number of televised hockey games, but they never play enough to hear if there are any lyrics. I’ve gone through the team websites to see if any of the songs on their “playlist” are the one, but they never are.

It starts with what is best described as a tribal-like drum beat, then there’s a couple of power chords…and that is where it is usually cut off.

Sounds like Queen’s “We Will Rock You”.

(Am I… Is this a whoosh…?)

If the link doesn’t work, the song is Pajarillo Verde and is easy to find.

“Emmylou” by First Aid Kit. I hear songs I instantly like all the time, but this one is on the “every mix tape I ever make” list. It is utterly irresistible.

I wouldn’t consider that (stomp, stomp, clap) a tribal drum beat. This is something from within the last few years, I think.

We saw Black Sabbath in concert last night, and it was the first time hearing End of the Beginning off of their latest album, 13.

Add my vote for “Royals.”

I’m guessing that’s Rock and Roll Part 2.

“I Can’t Stop” by Flux Pavilion

I heard it once on a Mountain Dew commercial and was intrigued. The second time the commercial came on, I had the song through Amazon five minutes later. It’s now one of my current favorites.

Looks like Lorde’s “Royals” is tipping over into total saturation mode with covers by Selena Gomez and Walk off the Earth.

“Uprising” by Muse? I heard it first at a baseball game. Very overwrought and goofy, but a lot of fun to sing along to.

The Lumineers’ “Ho Hey”.

“My Mistakes Were Made for You” by The Last Shadow Puppets. I downloaded it on Amazon MP3 the second I got back to my desk.

Gin Wigmore Black Sheep

Nope, again too old a song. (and no, it’s not “Doctorin’ the Tardis” either)

Nope. I think that one was on a couple of team’s playlists. If there are any Chicago Blackhawks fans out there, it was the song that played as the Hawks came out of the tunnel to the bench area during the Finals. The LA Kings played it occasionally as they went on a Powerplay (right after the penalty was called). Some other teams did the same as LA, but they all broke the music off after the 2nd or 3rd guitar chord.

The only Kings music I know is the chime thing, but this might be of some use: Official Los Angeles Kings Website | Los Angeles Kings

Been there, done that. This song has not appeared on any team’s playlist, despite many teams playing what I assume is the intro.
