I did a search of the archives and haven’t seen anything new for months.
Is it still the prevalent belief that it’s a Stirling-engine powered scooter, which uses gyroscopes for balance?

It’s
it’s…
That guy was on MSNBC a few months ago with a new wheelchair that walked up stairs, would ride through sand and mud, and would go vertical to allow the rider to be ‘tall’. My wife, who’s a therapist, said it was the most wonderful thing she ever saw.
Dont’ know if that is “IT” or not, but it was pretty cool.
Ah yes, Dean Kamen’s Ginger Project. I was wondering about this myself. http://www.theitquestion.com/news/
Yeah, the wheelchair is his IBot (not Ginger), and it was last June.
Nobody on the Web seems to have anything on “Ginger” later than last March’s big news release hype, and Kamen seems to have moved on to other things.

I’m guessing that either it didn’t work quite the way he thought it was going to, or else he’s having trouble getting development funding for it. Maybe the world isn’t ready for a personal Stirling-powered scooter.
There was an MPSIMS thread a few days ago. http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=92141
IT’s a teaser campaign; these are invariably anticlimactic.
so it’s most likely Bulls*IT, but I’m happy to be wrong about this.
