What's the longest placename you've visited?

Pretty much as the thread title says, what’s the place with the longest placename that you’ve ever visited?

I’ve been to Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaturipukakapikimaungahoronukupokaiwhenuakitanatahu, an otherwise unremarkable hill in Southern Hawke’s Bay. I’ve also been to Bangkok (if it’s long form name counts).

It is indeed hard to beat Krung Thep Mahanakhon Amon Rattanakosin Mahintharayutthaya Mahadilok Phop Noppharat Ratchathani Burirom Udomratchaniwet Mahasathan Amon Phiman Awatan Sathit Sakkathattiya Witsanukam Prasit.

El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de los Ángeles del Río de Porciúncula is up there, even though I don’t think it is the real name any more.

I’m having a hard time thinking of any other notable contenders.

I’ve been to Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch.

And you expect to win with that paltry entry? :dubious:

Only Newtownmountkennedy, not very exciting but had the proposal to change it to Newtownmountjohnfitzgeraldkennedy we might be in the look in.

Cool, have you been to it’s twin town Y?

Here’s hoping…

Are you kidding? I’ve never even been to Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg, and that’s local.

They’d be my two picks as well.

I live in the aforementioned Krung Thep Mahanakhon Amon Rattanakosin Mahintharayutthaya Mahadilok Phop Noppharat Ratchathani Burirom Udomratchaniwet Mahasathan Amon Phiman Awatan Sathit Sakkathattiya Witsanukam Prasit.

Or Bangkok to you.

Best I can do is “A-B-C-D-E-F-G-H-I got a GAAAALLLLLLLLLLLL . . . in Kalamazoo-zoo-zoo-zoo-zoo-zoooooooooooo . . .”

I’ve even played guitar in the pub there. My friend’s sister lives in the village.

I have also been there–primarily to take photos of the signs at the train station and gift shop.

I have passed through sleeping on board a night bus.

I went to a wedding in Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch (actually in the church that the name refers to).

I’ve been. Husband grew up there. Not IN it, but on the shore.

Cleveland.

I think that’s the only reason 99% of people go there.

But has anyone met the boy from Tacarembo la Tumbe del Fuego Santa Malipas Zacatecas la Junta del Sol y Cruz? :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve driven past it about 15 times this week. I’ve never actually stopped and looked at it though.

Head-Smashed-In-Buffalo-Jump, Alberta is my personal favorite.

Maybe not the longest name, but perhaps at the end of the alphabet - you will spot this place on the way from LA to Las Vegas:

Zzyzx, California
