What's the most annoying thing someone can do on a message board?

People who end every post

Cheers!

Hey, who’s the jackass who posted nothing?

People who presume they’re above you because you don’t like *************** or haven’t heard ******** or haven’t read ***********. Culture snobs, basically.

I JUST read ******, and its great!

Exist.

(in my experience)

I’m sure I’ll think of something else later, but for now:

I find it perfectly obnawxiaous (sp?) when someone misspells a word and then includes (sp?) after it, as in “I know I’m not spelling it right but I’m too lazy to look it up.” This is the SDMB people, not some pick-up chat room!

Well I’ve read ****** 2. so I am better than you in every possible way.

Post parties annoy the hell out of me.

So do “variation on a theme” threads when they get out of control - as happens with the “Ask the …” threads from time to time.

Fairblue, at least I have a posting style…I explained it along time ago & a few times too…

Oh, that reminds me, another thing I don’t like are trolls

The most annoying thing a person can do on a message board is have the font on their webpage be a similair colour to the horrible background (tiled) picture, and have a horrible background picture.

OK so that’s not something someone can do on a message board, but it is annoying!

I hate it when people post while they’re on the cell phone.

Oh, man, there are some that drive me nuts.

  1. People who describe actions as if they are doing them, such as smacks interface2x upside the head for being a jackass. I don’t know why, but it just bugs me.

  2. When people post overly positive, inane, feel-good tripe. This is especially prevalant on another board I read. This includes bad poetry, lists of how everyone is just great (i.e. “The only reason anyone would hate you is because they are jealous of you”), and inspirational stories.

  3. People on band/celebrity webboards that feel the need to constantly post messages for the band. I’m not talking about the occasional post here or there, but people who do it REPEATEDLY. With the bands I usually like, they’re easy to contact through email, please stop clogging the board.

  4. Last, but definitely not least, formatting!! The formatting here on the SDMB is wonderful compared to some places I’ve been to. See below:

>>>
>>
>>Does anyone know where interface2x lives?>
>>>
>>
>>
>>Yeah, I know. He’s a jackass.
>>
>>

Don’t post after the >>'s! That’s for quotes from previous posts!

finishes his post

what, where? OK, Iagr…I’m on the train, I agree lev…I said I’m ON THE TRAIN. <beep>

so, where was I… oh - I agree levdrakon

People who post in a thread about a televison show with “this is why I don’t own a televison”. If you don’t own a televison why are you reading the thread?

And people who say “nuff said”. That was only funny once, about fifteen years ago.

Is there someone around here who doesn’t? :stuck_out_tongue:

[QUOTE]

I must have missed the memo.

Aw, now come on, handy, I was just explaining the context of a joke- why’d you have to go and get all personal about it?

come on u guyz y havent u replyd to my post yet u need to respect every1z opinion i’am getting tierd of it i wounder if u all hate me

plz respond or i well leave

ahem?

I hate it when people post without reading the rest of the thread. I have seen this lots of times, where you read a post in which someone says something that has already been said, and in a way that makes it clear they didn’t read the posts above.

To me, it is similar to people who don’t listen to anyone in a conversation because they are too busy thinking about what they are going to say next, because of course what they are going to say is more important than what anyone else could say.

It is a LOT easier to be attentive in a conversation than it is to have read every post in a thread.

But I agree with the point you were making. I have to say I am guilty of it.
