What's the most romantic academic discipline?

Everybody gets one vote, but feel free to acknowledge more than one field. If you need a memory jog, here are some fairly comprehensive lists of disciplines, in my opinion, but feel free to choose something not on these lists. You lose points, though, if you vote for your discipline, or the discipline of your SO.

My vote goes to Linguistics, with honorable mentions going to Literature and Architecture.

Romantic in what sense? Most likely to get you laid? Getting an MD or DDS would probably help the most, since they imply future financial success.

Romantic? I’d say either music or fine arts.

I would say archaeology. I tell people I do it and eyes bulge!

“PYRAMIDS!!”

nefertari.

Theatre, of course. It’s great to be a techie.

Computer Science… for um… no reason… hides Computer Science degree

Geology.

Geology, absolutely.

Math, of course. Why? I don’t know. It just is, OK?

Comparative Literature.

That Harold Bloom is SUCH a hottie.

Library and Information Science

What?

Linguistics. Because that “cunning linguist” joke always wins over the ladies.

I have no bias whatsoever, of course.

Anthropology.

Even though I get the impression that everyone here is just using the same joke over and over [;)], I can see cases for everything listed here. I have to think a bit for Computer Science, though. As long as nobody says Engineering I’ll suspend my disbelief.

I didn’t realize there would be such a wide range in responses; I guess in order to nail this down we’ll need a huge sample space…

By definition, Romance Languages, of course.

No, no, I’m quite sure that it’s not Computer Science. Not even if you make three-and-a-half inch floppy jokes. Ask me how I know, go ahead :frowning:

I’d go for either linguistics or cultural anthropology… I love a guy who can talk dirty in any number of languages… yet a cultural anthropologist is sensitive and thoughtful. Just in my experience, at least.

Computer science is very romantic and sexy… or I think so… you can ask my boyfriend if you don’t believe me.

As an archaeologist with an advanced degree in Linguistics, I submit that I am the most romantic person here!

I can testify that the ability to reduce relationship problems to truth tables is an invalvuable asset. Plus, the utter concentration on the problem at hand is a great asset in the sack.

Literature. Not only can you get them to write you sonnets permeated with romantic bliss, but you can specify Petrarchan or Shakespearian.
