What's the newest game in your Top 3 games of all time list?

I just don’t get why people cling to ancient games. Different strokes I suppose. I had an employee of mine recently bragging about an NES purchase. I don’t understand it. My PC plays games that are galaxies better than that old ass thing.

Newest: Super Meat Boy (2010). It could probably have been made in the 90s. But it is the best 2d platformer ever.

The others are Shadow of the Colossus and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.

Agreed. I was one of those arcade geeks that was addicted to winning. There are so many games to choose from, from so many platforms, I’ll give it a shot.

My top three:

  1. Wonder Boy (Monster Land)
  2. Wing Commander
  3. Return To Castle Wolfenstein

I’ve since played a whack of newer games, mostly on the PS2 and PSP slim, and there are a lot of good ones, but those really stick out in my head.

BTW, I’ll see your Yars Revenge and raise you a Pele’s Soccer. I killed at that.

I lived in Las Vegas in the 80s. I never got into the slots very much, I found them boring. You put in your coin or chip, pull the handle…and maybe some money comes out, but usually not. With a video game, though, you put in the coin or token, and you can play as long as you’re good enough to beat the game. There were some video game arcades that were open 24/7 back then. Circus Circus had not only video games, but midway games on the second level, along with free circus acts every so often…I’m tempted to say every half hour. I loved that casino…and I almost never spent money gambling. My husband enjoyed gambling. I found just about all sorts of gambling boring. I was decent at 21, and could make money at it, but with all the smoke and the drunks, I preferred to just stay in the arcades.

The OP asked about our top 3 favorite games of all time. (Most of us assumed that to mean video games ;).) People mentioning old games don’t necessarily not play or enjoy new games or technology; it’s just that the older games are among their favorites. I don’t hate Oblivion or Skyrim. I just liked Morrowind better.

BTW, my copy of Ogre Battle for the PS is worth big bucks according to a search on Ebay, so there are some more concrete benefits to hanging on to old games as well.

Oldest is Ocarina of Time, i loved all the Zeldas but Ocarina was above the rest. Next is World of Warcraft, i put more time into that game that i’ve put into schooling over my lifetime. And the newest would be Portal, that game reminded me why i loved videogames.

My top 3 would probably be C&C: Generals, Fallout 3 and Saints Row 2. October, 2008 was a good month.

I haven’t played New Vegas but I think I’d like it, Saints Row 3 is inferior to Saints Row 2 and it sounds like EA’s still busy desecrating Command and Conquer’s corpse.
