What's the oldest thing in your fridge?

It has one built in. But during all the kerfuffle about the settings I bought more.
At that time we were trying to find the zones. To measure against what the fridge was saying. It was all for nothing.
Except I figured out where to store my insulin, and how much cool you lose by opening for a bottle of water. (Not much)
The freezer sections do worse if you stand there too long, tho’.

I have no idea what the coldest thing in my fridge is.

The oldest? That’s easy. A bottle of “Orbitz” soda (the one that had the little things floating around in it). It’s from the late '90s. I have no idea why I keep it (I couldn’t stand the stuff when it was new–it felt weird having things floating around in my drink) but there it is, and there it stays.

I also have a bottle of Coca-Cola Blak (Coke’s first attempt to combine Coke and coffee) and a couple cans of Coke Coffee (their second, which was much better).

Coke Blaq was awesome.

Some sort of condiment I bought for one recipe and then never used again.

Coffee that is probably 15 years old at least.

I think the oldest thing in my fridge is probably a jar of capers which I bought when I was poaching a tilapia filet at least 10 or 12 years ago, following a recipe I’d found online. I know I’ve used it once or twice since then, but it’s been at least five years since I’ve opened it.

Oddly enough, I have a tilapia filet defrosting now, which is what made me think that I should probably check to see if those capers are still any good.

My condiments can get pretty old before I notice to check the dates. Salad dressings are my biggest offender. Last month I went through them and found one that was 5 years old. Every single bottle was expired except for the ranch. I don’t worry too much about pickles or special sauces.
