What's the picture on your checks? Is it 'you'?

Oh. Think I should note. Considering how rarely I use the checks themselves, and how little I care what they look like anyway, I normally wouldn’t have “vanity checks,” but the first two boxes of checks I got when I opened my account were free and it didn’t matter whether I took a fancy design or the bank’s plain one. So fancy design it was.

Mine have animal prints on them - like Cheetah and Leopard. Very cool! My husband picked them out

I work in the loans office at my school (read: I look at a million and five checks every month when loan payments are due) and enjoy laughing at these people’s frou-frou checks. I mean, who are we supposed to be trying to impress with pretty checks? I’ve seen 'em all. I have decided that I think best of the people who keep their hard-earned money and just use the plain ones that the bank supplies. Oddly enough, the plain bank ones are extremely rare, so those people come off looking a lot more sophisticated than the hundred-and-tenth person who also decided to buy Eeyore checks for some reason…

Mine are blue-striped, the most basic I could get. I mean, geez, there are some wackos who send in checks that have a black-and-white print of skulls on it, along with a bad Goth poem (something about smiling in the darkness…gah).

Like dreamer, I have the animal print checks: leopard, cheetah, tiger, and zebra. They couldn’t possibly BE any more “me” unless they had my actual mug shot on them. Leopard print in particular cracks me up – I’ve been collecting leopard-print stuff for years, with a small sideline in zebra-print stuff.

I have FairyChatMom’s checks. They are me, however; I love to travel and they’re simple.

::prays she gets to go to Ottawa this summer::

Ya know, when I opened this thread I went a-looking for my checkbook so I could better describe it to all you wonderful people, and I can’t find it! Oh well, I just wrote a check to my roomie yesterday, so it can’t have gone far.

They’re very cool, a jillion colors in a “Java” (coffee) theme, four different patterns. In the top left corner is a little rat line drawing, way cute, and down around the memo line it has my favorite Jack Handy quote: I’d rather be rich than stupid. So, yeah, they’re ‘me’.

I’d like to have FairyChatMom’s checks. Will she sign them for us?

sure, no prob - how much do you want?? Or maybe I’ll leave that space blank??

<snerk>

In the days before debit cards, I wrote checks for everything. Now I just use them for bill-paying, so they last LOTS longer. The days of buying 4 boxes at a time are long gone.

I too have the standard-issue cheapie checks. I too won’t pay for fancy checks. I got enough ways to be me already, I don’t need to pull my checks into this duty.

My checks are monopoly motif which to me is funny cuz I oversee the money stuff here at work. I’m the only one that thinks they’re funny, but hey, that’s why I got 'em in the first place.

That and I pretty much treat all money like it’s not real.

Now that I’m banking primarily online, I rarely write checks, although when I do, they’re on these Stag beetles, flies, ants, or cockroach checks. Since I work in an entomology department, I guess they’re a bit of me (but I’m still searching for a decent corvid check).

Not a series, but it includes vultures.

Mine have a little understated Native American theme. The check company calls it “Shades of the Southwest” or some such. I like it because it doesn’t detract from the info on the check, they’re cheaper than bank checks, and they remind me of all the fun i had in the southwest over the years. If Casa Mejor wasn’t such a great house, we’d move back there in a second!

Checks? What’s a check? You mean like an analog financial transaction, paper and signatures and all that? You had to “mail” them, right? And they came in this little book with a miniature notebook thingie where you wrote down the same numbers and who they had been written to all over again, in lieu of having a copy in your outbox and all? And “signed” them, I remember that, everyone had a “signature”, which was how you wrote your name by hand with a pen if you wrote it in “cursive”. I remember cursive!

(Seriously, I haven’t owned or used them in about 6 years)

All in all, I think that’s probably a good place to to do your swimming when you happen to be a whale, corny or not.

I used to have a really nice, simple forest green cheque design with gold on the edges. When I went to re-order my cheques, my bank had eliminated any designs that weren’t hideous flower arrangements, boating scenes (which so reflects my spare time activities), or anything equally un-like me, so I took the basic ugly grey that came free with my account.

Thank god I always use my bank card, so I hardly ever use my cheques.

Oh yes. OH YES. My checks are SO me! They are…

… (I know you care so deeply, so you’ll keep on scrolling…)

YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK checks!!! ALL Yosemite, ALL the time. Totally “me”!

I got 'em through Bank of America. I think part of the fee that I paid for the checks went towards the Yosemite Fund.

They have since been discontinued, I believe. However, I go through checks S-L-O-W-L-Y, and I ordered a big batch of 'em before they were discontinued, so I think (as long as I don’t move, or anything) that I’ll be set with Yosemite checks for the next decade or so.
