What's the point of the geek in the poptarts commercials?

You know the ones with the poptart bouncing around in the low rider with the electric music? They’ve made a second one now where the same car playing music stops at a light and does the bouncing thing to impress some girls. The common thing in both those commercials that I absolutely do not get is that kid who stares stupidly at the poptart for a minute, then yells “BEEEEEEEEERNP” along with some silly hand sign, at which point both commercials end.

…Ok… um… WTF??? Is the kid supposed to be cool like the poptart, or is the poptart supposed to be giving him some grooving vibe, or is he just a paraody like the wannabe geek in the “Pretty Fly (For a White Guy)” video?

This kid reminds me of Timmy from Southpark (:D), but instead of only being able to shout his own name the poptarts kid can only imitate a simple sound. So, does anyone have a clue what this kid is doing in the commercials?

I like PopTarts.

The dork is part of an advertising series-- and the BBEEEEEEEEN is just the guy’s schtick. It’s supposed to be cool with the teens who actually consider pop tarts food. Or at least make you remember pop tarts. (That’s the problem with ads. The great ads are so amazing you can’t remember the product. The ones where you remember the product aren’t so amazing, and walk a fine line towards annoyance.)

If it’s any consolation, I’m friends with someone who was working on the shoot with the bouncing car (it’s the third in the series, BTW), and the dork smashed his head a dozen times when the car came down. The hydraulics on the bouncing car are so intense they smashed off the rear bumper by hitting the ground
