What's the story behind your screen name?

I got the name from an Iggy Pop album, though coincidently I am an extreme Van Goch fan; so many people think that it comes from the film about him.

But the main reason that I chose it is that it reflects my life plan, new experiences, new people and lots of travel.

Oh , and I’m a zombie.

I always read it as HAH-gee (with the h sound being like the “ch” sound in loch, or Bach.)

My user name came to be because I couldn’t think of anything remarkable about me to commemorate in a handle… hence “no-one special.”

Back when I played DAoC, people were throwing around the word “uber” carelessly, using it to both praise and insult other players. Then came the “noob” flames. This naturally lead to “Uber Noob!”

I named my character Ubergoober Danoober, and a good time was had by all.

Variations of the name stick with me wherever on the net I go.

A SCAdian is a member of the SCA.

On some forums I use RM1(SS), which was my Navy rate.

I’m not a huge cartoon or comeek buff. I used to have anther name here, may have changed it after the AOL departure.

Used to love the ABC Saturday morning Cartooniverse. So… I picked the name.

My real name is Misty.

Cuts glass
A girl’s best friend
Is worth a lot of money
Ooh shiny!
Can be found in caves, in sunken ships, and under random places such as bridges.

I’ve been lurking the Dope since 2002. I was too shy to participate…until 2005.

I’m kidding about the “Diamonds” part. That meaning is super secret.

Google me and you will find out the origin (referring to the 1932 version, not the awful 1963 remake).

I really wanted to be the Ernst Thesiger character, but Horace Femm doesn’t have the same ring to it (although the way he says it!..)
Roddy

My name is from a D&D character I created for a game.

In some books, due to the way they’re bound, blank pages are sometimes left in the finished product. To reassure customers that they are not missing part of the book, the phrase, “This page intentionally left blank” is sometimes is printed across the page. I won’t even delve into the philosophical ramifications of the page no longer being blank.

*When watching a Rifftrax-enhanced copy of The Matrix, IIRC, Mike was watching Keanu try to emote, and remarked, “This face intentionally left blank.” This line made me burst out laughing. Needing a pseudonym, I remembered this riff and thought it eminently appropriate.

*I actually researched this reply. Previously, I had remembered it as an MST3K riff, though I think the mistake is understandable, given that the guys from Rifftrax were with MST3K.

When I was little, I had a talking Caspar the Friendly Ghost doll that was defective. The phrase “I’m a friendly ghost” was garbled, and it sounded to my sisters and me like he was saying “I’m a freckafree.”

I lurked forever, awaiting inspiration. Then I showed the kids “The Truman Show”, and there you are.
The benefit of being Truman is that it really is, literally, all about me.

My last name really is “Slaughter”, and I got my username in the summer of 1983 from my little sister. (Looks away wistfully as classic 80’s R&B thumps in…)

I was 19, and a few days away from leaving home after having enlisted in the US Army. My 16 y.o. sister and I were talking, and she said to me:
“When you go to the army, don’t tell anyone your nickname. You need something cool… Something like, ‘Slaughterhouse’ or ‘Manslaughter’” I made it “Mann Slaughter” and at one point actually went around telling people that my real FIRST name was “Mann”!

When I joined The Dope in 2000 I was at the height of my Internet Deathmatch Gaming Phase playing games like ‘Half-Life’, and ‘Unreal Tournament’ where’d I’d been using “Mann Slaughter” for years. It seemed only natural for me to use it here as well.

-Slaughter

I’m a batty old bat.

I’m afraid to speculate. I imagine it would result in me receiving a warning.

Sparkles brilliantly after enduring not only tremendous pressure and immense heat but a carefully placed series of chisel and mallet strikes.

I like ridiculously absurd names, and Marley23 was already taken.

Is this a scientific way of saying she has great cleavage?

It’s from the Kate Bush song Suspended in Gaffa, and not (as many think) from the gray sticky tape emblematic of my former career as a sound engineer.

Note: I have never used the term “gaffa” to describe the tape. That’s a British thing. It was always “duct” or “duck” to me.

Mistwalk + Taolynn (Both old gamer names of mine) = Taomist.
And no, it’s not a religious offshoot of anything. Though I’m tempted to answer people who ask what religion it’s from with some kind of cool, plausible-sounding answer. As soon as I think of one. :stuck_out_tongue:
