I’m always struck the creativity of other people’s usernames. I think names are fascinating in general, and especially names that people choose for themselves. So, what’s the story behind your username?
As for mine, I just had an Irish folk song running through my head as I was registering. I couldn’t think of anything especially clever or witty at the time, so I just went with what I happened to be humming.
I knew I was going to be one of the oldest, if not THE oldest member on the board, so instead of "Decrepit"or “NearlyDefunct” or some such I chose “ageless”. The 6 just means I’m in my sixties.
At my college, when you fail out, you officially become Ineligible To Return. The students also call it Invited To Retire. Anyway, there’s a group of students who play a series of games in the middle of the night occasionally. The games involve making daggers from paper and duct tape and running around stabbing people. The joke is the if you participate, you will ITR because you won’t be able to stay awake for class, so it’s called ITR games.
Fairy Princess Kitty
It’s from a trip to Knott’s Berry Farm that I went on with my then closest friends and boyfriend. I am a cat, I always make kitty cat sounds, almost unconsciously… so my boyfriend at the time always called me his “Silly Kitty” Thus where the Kitty came from; the Fairy Princess part is because I got a circlet of flowers and a wand with flowers and ribbon. I said that I was a Princess, because of course I’ve always been my daddy’s Princess. Then the flowers made me think of fairies. So thus Fairy Princess Kitty was coined.
The band Drowningman recently released a CD, Rock and Roll Killing Machine. I really like that CD, and thought it would be a cool username. So on the next message board I registered at, I used it. I liked it so much that I changed my name to it here.
I took the name of one of my old RPG characters. I used it for a bit in the chatroom at the Palladium website (where it’s common to use a character name), and it just stuck.
I am into custom cars and trucks for show. So I am getting my nissan truck air bagged pretty soon, so I can raise it up or set it on the ground if I wanted to. So I came up with bagdnissan. (bagged nissan)
The Mighty Tiki God was a character on MTV’s old beach house. He used to do the in between show stuff. I’ve used this name since '97. And I will continue to use it. I mean come on how original is it?
My name arose from my interest in Africa and all things African. There was Jomo Kenyatta, the great hero of Kenyan independence. And mojo, a word from the West African Fula language, referring to magic (I was into Magick at the time). I came up with it in as a senior in college over 20 years ago. I had written a weird little science-fiction story while seriously baked, and decided to submit it to my local food co-op newsletter for publication. When it came to the byline, a sudden lightning bolt of inspiration struck—you are Jomo Mojo!
Coincidentally, the first two letters in my first name are Jo and the first two letters in my last name are Mo (that goes for both my dad’s last name and my mom’s maiden name—a doubly good reason!). Put 'em together and switched 'em around. Neat.
While in elementary and secondary school I had a tendency to get very angry, black out, and snap back into consciousness surrounded by lots of people writhing in pain.
This was always kind of surprising, since I was the smallest kid around. In grade 6 there were kindergarten kids taller than me!
Thanks to decades of hard work I now have this under control. I think.
