My first and middle initials are PK, and my last name is pronounced “Bites”, though it’s not spelled that way.
True story:
Many years ago, when I first met my wife, and before she knew my last name, we had a conversation which resulted in her saying “Aww, bite me!”. So I bent down and bit a little on her lovely rump. She was absolutely stunned, though a little turned on. “Hey, my name is ‘Bites’, ya know” I said. Wierd story, ain’t it? If we hadn’t been married for over 21 years now, I wouldn’t repeat it. God, do I love that woman!
When I was in college my friends called me “Homie.” It’s a take on my last name, and Homie the Clown (In Living Color) was popular at the time.
Well, one day I go to New Orleans and stop by this Rastafarian’s table at the French Market. He’s got hookas, bongs, carvings, all manner of clothing, and an assortment of brightly colored, woolen hats. As a wild impules, I buy one.
When I get back to college wearing a rainbow tam o’ shantern (is that what they’re called?) on my head, my friends took to calling me “Rasta Homie.”
It stuck.
I’ve been huge fan of Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals most of his life. One of his more recent obscure ones was Whistle Down the Wind, based on the Mary Hailey Bell novel and was made into a 50’s movie starring her daughter Hailey Mills. The musical was not a success.
One of the songs was “Annie Christmas.” My last name is Anne, and my B-day is December 25th. I consider it fate, or an astonishing coincidence that ALW would write a song with that title. So I took the name.
Well, if you really want to know, the meaning of my username can be found here…

It sounded nice ;). My real name is Fiona & I get to abbreviate it the same to Fi (I know I’ve spent to much time on the boards when I almost introduce myself as Fierra IRL & have to switch quickly), and basically it did sound nice…fiery & hot, but feminine too. (swiftly kicks dpr as she still hasn’t forgotten ;))
My first name is Jay. For most of my life I was known as Jaybird. This nickname spawned endless variations (Blue Jay, the Dirty Bird, etc). The most enduring one was Birdman. In fact, there are certain people I know who probably think “the Birdman” is the name on my driver’s license. 12 is the uniform number I always wore in sports. It’s become something of a symbol for me.
It’s what my real name turns into in Japanese pronounciation. Alice=A-ri-su .I too am an anime fan (although apparently not as much as I thought I was, seeing as how I have no clue who {b]Rally Vincent** is), and an friend of mine calls me that because her favorite character is Alice from Please Save My Earth. It just sort of stuck, and now a bunch of my friends call me that.
I’m a graduate student specializing in medieval British literature. I tried to register as just plain “Medievalist,” but that was already taken.
Carrots.
I had finished reading Don Quixote not long before I registered and I just couldn’t remember how to spell it.
Well, let’s see.
Thirty-seven years ago, a sweet little baby was born. Her parents took one look at their squalling little girl, and said, “Let’s give her a name that on one else has ever heard of, no one will be able to spell, makes people say, ‘Huh?’ and it makes it impossible for her to buy something (anything!) personalized. Let’s give her Grandma’s last name as a first name!”
And so I became Kinsey.
Yes, it’s my real name.
I forgot to mention that I’m thinking of changing it (my username, not my real name).
I’m trying to think of something creative.
I’m open to suggestions.
I’m waiting for somebody to guess where I got my current one but I’ll tell you some of my older ones
Back in 1991 when I first started chatting I was The Pecos Kid because I thought it sounded cool. I made my friend The Wace Kid. Later I switched to Manard G. Krebbs are the beat-nik character on The Many Loves of Doby Gillis. This was because I thought my fav character in Comic Chat looked like him, and I liked his laid back attitude. After that I became Random because I was, and am. I never know what clever thing I’m gonna say next. And then I came up with this one when I found that Random was taken on another site.
Oh Kinsey, how about Shahrazad from 1001 Arabian Nights. Smart, funny, sexy, she’s got it on
My nickname as a kid was Dobbin, but that was already taken. So I added ‘aire’. Even tho I’m not sure what debonaire(sp?) means, it sounded close enough.
dob - as dobbin got shortened to
It’s just a twist on the song “Viva Las Vegas,” a joke about losing money there, and of course I go there quite a bit (though sometimes I actually win).
My user name is also my family name - my birth certificate says “Patricia Frances Marvel,” father’s name “Nathaniel Porter Marvel.” Too cool to change when I got married - my hubby once joked HE should take MY last name 'cuz he likes comic books so!
SHAZAM!
Patty
One of my bad habits, one that friends are always ragging on me about, is the habit I have of answering the question, “How are you?” with, “Oh, just rotten, and yourself?”
My first name is Don, and most call me Donnie.
Geez, it’s not very creative, now that I stop and think about it…
I seem to recall a short-lived puppet on Mister Rogers called “Donkey Hodey”. Kind of the same idea.
“City Gent” is the generic name in a Monty Python script for the guy in the bowler hat walking down a London street with a briefcase. Totally nondescript, which is what I wanted.
