What's the Straight Dope on Drake getting called, basically, a pedophile by Kendrick Lamar?

Also, worth noting that the accusations about Drakes associate Baka are legitimate. Baka is a security guard/rapper for OVO and has a number of charges, including dropped charges of procuring prostitution and human trafficking (presumably, the “weird case”).

A pedophile is someone who likes kids in an inappropriate way. It doesn’t have to mean someone acted on those desires, unless you’re talking about a convictable offense.

Kendrick said nothing about Drake being convicted of pedophilia; it’s just an opinion that Drake has inappropriate feelings toward underage girls. Given some of his texts with Millie (“I miss you so much!”) and weird correspondence with Billie Eilish when she was 17, I might not call him a pedophile myself but I’m not going to argue that he isn’t one.

Fair enough. I mainly wanted to point out that even if he could it would be a terrible idea, and basically confirm Kendrick’s point about Drake not understanding the culture.

Read DSeid’s link above. Drake is in fact currently suing for defamation over that song (though he’s suing the record company, not KL personally).

Yes…and he got absolutely clowned on for it by just about everybody. But why is he suing UMG and not Kendrick? Maybe he doesn’t think he has a case, but that didn’t stop him with UMG. I think it’s more likely he’s aware it would blow up in his face. Suing an international mega corporation may be acceptable - those corporations are faceless and outside the culture anyway - but suing Kendrick personally would cement his reputation as a culture vulture and lose him any credibility he might have left.

Just pointing out there’s now a wikipedia page on the fued.

I’m a teacher and can tell you, any man* who doesn’t put basic groundrules in place for his own protection regarding young girls is at best, very foolish.

I teach middle school and:

  • I don’t allow individual kids in my classroom when we would be alone. If a kid returns to get something after school, they go in, but I keep the door open and try to go in the hall for a second while they look
  • Even at my reading table, kids are not permitted on the same side of the table, right next to me. We keep our personal space protected. Again, this is for them as much as me.
  • If I need to help a student with something at their desk, I ask that they move to the side or hand me their chromebook to protect personal space
  • Basically, I teach that I like personal space and while the room is crowded, we can keep separate as much as possible

*I really mean people like teachers who regularly see kids in our daily lives. I don’t know what other professions aside from doctors, etc. that need this, but any male teacher who doesn’t take steps to protect themselves is unwise.

Great advice. However, was Drake ever alone with these young women?

I generally won’t watch a three and a half minute video unless it’s on a compelling subject and I know and respect the person making it.

If you can’t briefly summarize it, point me to a specific short segment or better yet, a concise article laying out the argument, forget it.

Well no, he dropped that word. But only that one, I think.

Then watch the one I gave you. This is about a lot more than Drake being friends with MBB.

They are on the same label. Drake’s contract was up for renegotiation. He claims that the label tried to make him untouchable, to lower his price.

13 minutes, including sponsor recommendation during the article. Nope.

The latest from their legal dispute is that Drake has access to Lamar’s recording contract and financial information on music executives at Universal Music Group, presumably to prove Drake’s conspiracy allegations against him. Is this the right move? Who can say?
