What's the temperature at your house these days? (posted July 10, 2022)

I guess all the Dopers in areas where the temp is over 100 right now are lying passed out in a pool of sweat. I get it.

No. The weather here in Dallas is 104. This weather gives me high anxiety bc my AC starts to drop in performance at around 95. The coolest my AC will get my house is 74. If I try to go below that, the AC just stays on and never turns off.

I’m in Colorado. I live in an apartment, so no chance of modifying it for central air or anything like that. It’s currently 89 outdoors, and 81 in my bedroom.

Austin area here. It was 87 at 5 a.m. and that’s the worst part. When it gets down to 70 or so at night then a 103 day isn’t really so bad as it doesn’t get that hot until late in the day and doesn’t last so long. But it was over 90 by 9 a.m. today so I don’t even want to know what the high was. We got a new HVAC system installed this year and boy am I grateful. It holds the temp inside and I don’t have to feel the terror that it’s about to die, like I did with the old one. I’m not outside much in the summer anyhow as I am allergic to almost everything that grows here so I just pretend it’s not that hot.

White asphalt shingles? White metal?

Daytime Mid-80s to mid-90s here in North Georgia.

69 degrees right now (nice), and last night I slept in my own bed in the trailer for the first time in at least three weeks. Right now, I’m typing from my own chair in the trailer, away from my landlord and his watching of election-deniers, CRT-haters, Alex Jones, and Marjorie Traitor Greene.

Low 80s for a high today in central Kentucky. We even had half-decent rains in the last couple of days so I don’t have to lug out the hoses to water young trees for awhile.

Our thermostats are generally set at 76F, which keeps things comfortable most of the time.

I do not miss Texas summertime heat.

86F in the house. Southern CA, no central A/C.
I once rented an apartment that got up to 107 inside. :frowning:

Aluminum shingles.

All-right! That’s what I’m talkin’ 'bout!

Okay, I won’t look up your high…

If it’s mid-70s at 6 am, I’m happy because that’s when I walk. Just before it gets light. But lately it’s been closer to 79 at 6 am and with 90+% humidity, I get home and I’m drenched.

Currently 83F (28C) here in west suburban Chicago, at 6pm; it’s sunny, with a light breeze. We’ve had the AC turned off since Friday evening. Yesterday was even lovelier, but the humidity has started to creep back up today (the dew point is currently 60F).

We got a break in Memphis today. It’s 92 right now. But this past week the temps were close to 100. And it looks like we’ll be back to that come Tuesday. I’m pretty cold-natured so I keep the house at 80 and it feels great. Humidity gets worse at night so I turn it down to 78 or a little lower to keep the air coming on more often.

It’s 98 by the weather apps here in the so cal hi desert so it’s about 100-102 as they’re usually a few degrees off usually

The high temperature was 105° today. It’s currently “only” 99° at 7:20 PM local time. I’m in Tucson, AZ. Fortunately there’s very little humidity, and I’m inside with air-conditioning.

The temperature has now plummeted to chilly 96. Brrr.

It was hot here (NW Indiana) the last two weeks, including an unprecedented 86F at midnight a few nights ago. Typically it doesn’t even get this hot in the afternoons of the summer, so yes, it’s quite a heat wave. I’ve never seen it this warm at night. Also humid at the same time.

Fortunately, we then had a couple of days of cool rain, then after spiking in the 90% RH range, the humidity magically disappeared. This next week’s highs are supposed to mostly be no more then the low 80’s. Phew.

ATX checking in.

It’s a delightful 93 (~33 C) outside right now and my thermostat is set to 80. I took a nap earlier when it was 107 because this Jersey boy didn’t leave his brief stint in Las Vegas for this nonsense. That said, I was fully running errands earlier at 104 and legit thought it was only mid 90s because of the very slight breeze.

I usually leave my thermostat at 80 unless I have company.

Is this where you are?

Atbasar Airport (IATA: ATX ) is an airport in Kazakhstan located 5 km (3.1 mi) north of Atbasar in the Akmola Region.[1] The airport contains a small unpaved airstrip with a small loop taxiway feeding into a small parking area.

I wish! 74 would be absolutely wonderful right now.

Did I give away my elder millennial status by assuming people know ATX = Austin? :joy:
