What's the verdict on Jesse Ventura's term as Governor of Minnesota?

Good, bad or indifferent? How did he do?

I liked him. A lot. He stood up for what he believed in and didn’t mince words.

Unfortunately (you knew it was coming), his thin skin with the media, his inability to lead a congress of republicans and democrats, and his speech style, all three of those caused problems for him to lead effectively.

Jesse did a good job. I’m not prepared to say that he was one of those visionary people that indelibly affects the course of history, but on balance he left the state in as good or better shape than he found it. That and the fact that you always felt that you were getting the “truth” from Jesse. I’m not saying he was always correct, but gave you the straight dope, as it were, when asked a question. If he changed his mind, he was up front about it. Whether this was ‘real’ or not, I’m not sure, but he made you feel that it was.

I feel that the last year or so of his stint was worthless. He had become a bit of a “me me me” whiner, and was unwilling to work with anyone. Tis a pity really. When he was elected (I Didn’t vote for him) I thought it was a good message. One that said, enough of the partisan BS. Only I knew it was a message I would have to live with for four years. I was suprised after three years of him, things seemed okay. After four, I wasn’t suprised.

He also didn’t do anything to help Barkley and Penny, 2 other INDs, build the party up in the state. A grand opportunity was wasted.
