I grew up with a pretty little girl in elementary school with whom I was infatuated named Hope.
The second and almost immediate successor thought was of the winged benison in the bottom of Pandora’s box.

Pain. Hope has caused more pain and suffering in history than any other 2 things combined. Broken hearts, crushed dreams, disappointed fans, despair, all have their start in someone hoping.
The opposite of despair. I don’t know if that makes me a pessimist who is more familiar with despair. But that is what I think of.
