Songs of Hope

What is the song(s) that gives hope and *uplifts *you,
like the bluest of blue sky you ever saw
and
a fuller than the fullest and deeper than the deepest breathe you ever took,
whether you are happy
or
watching the days go by
in the darkest of ennui
or predicament
waiting
for
nothing?

Well, I’m not sure that it does all that but Here Comes The Sun does pick me up every time I hear it.

Thanks for the memory…
(Sorry, that’s the first thing “songs of Hope” made me think of.)

Oh, BTW, if you are embarrassed to reveal yours, just in case, you can PM me. I won’t tell.

“Crazy Beautiful Life” - Kesha

The “Optimistic Voices” song from The Wizard of Oz:

You’re out of the woods, you’re out of the dark, you’re out of the night.
Step into the sun, step into the light.
Keep straight ahead for the most glorious place
On the face of the earth or the sky.
Hold onto your breath, Hold onto your heart, Hold onto your hope.
March up to the gate and bid it open.

Beat on the Brat by The Ram Ones. Someone really needed to get that kid to shut the eff up.

Heavenly Day, by Patty Griffin
Carpet of the Sun, Renaissance
Sleepers Awake!, The Incredible String Band

His Eye is on the Sparrow.

Cat Stevens’ “If You Want To Sing Out, Sing Out.”

Well, I somehow doubt that this is exactly what you’re looking for, but here are two songs that lift me up and boost my self-confidence when I’m feeling depressed:

The Clash - I’m Not Down

Tom Petty - I Won’t Back Down

Stairway to Heaven?

Heh. Does anyone remember laughter?

Tomorrow

Johnny Nash – I Can See Clearly Now

The first thought in my head when I read the OP was

You give me hope to carry on.

Now that I’ve got that earworm, I think I’ll kill myself.

“Sing” from Sesame Street.

Plant said, “I think this is a song of hope” (“The Song Remains The Same” album), [del]therefore I am[/del] it might be…

So far there are a few “Heaven”- ly songs. “Stairway” has been my perennial comfort tune ever since the release however I couldn’t say whether I ever got truly uplifting nor hopeful feeling, except for the first time I smoked pot and thought I figured out every note of Page’s solo (NOT! when I came around ).

I like most of the songs suggested so far.

Maybe Pachelbel’s Canon and Picker’s Old and Lost River or Mahler’s 10th or Mascagni. When I used to have pseudo depressions in my youth, Bach’s Air, I thought was uplifting but as I got older I’m not so sure whether it is all uplifting or hopeful just as Barber’s Adagio for Strings somewhat used to do it but at the same time quite contemplative and sad.

Well, Annie, such is life.

I want more of your gems, please?

Some uplifting favorites:

“Fearless” by Pink Floyd (which ends with a soccer crowd singing “You’ll Never Walk Alone”, another uplifting favorite)

Your Move” by Yes

Benedictus” and “Lay Down” by Strawbs

“Hey Jude”

Sunny Side of Heaven” by Fleetwood Mac (an instrumental)

I don’t know about songs of hope… some of them are. These are feel-good songs for me:

Light and Day - The Polyphonic Spree

Mr. Blue Sky- ELO

Tubthumping - Chumbawamba

All Star - Smash Mouth (No need to link it, you’ve heard it)

Right Now - Van Halen

What Would Brian Boitano Do? - Trey Parker & Matt Stone

Vertigogo - Combustible Edison

Sunshine Day - Brady Bunch

The opposite of what you’re looking for?
