What's the wallpaper on your digital devices?

Work computer is standard windows blue.

Tablet and phone are my dog.

Home laptop: a screenshot from Final Fantasy XIV.
Work laptop: a stock wallpaper from Apple (a shot of the Earth and Moon).
Cell phone: lock screen picture is a portrait of one of my Star Wars: The Old Republic characters; wallpaper is a picture of the characters from The Order of the Stick.

We’ve been going for over 32 years, parents bought a house 25 year ago, our kids grew up that spot, it’s our little part of paradise…(leaving next Thursday for 16 days, can’t wait!!)

Phone: #xray #student #love #kiss uploaded by Marianna Moustaka

Too obvious?

On my iDevices, I usually use something seasonal or some simple abstract pattern that doesn’t distract from the apps’ icons. I have a lovely single pink flower as my lock screen on my phone now, but its background is a light gray so when I turn my phone on in the dark, my eyes are not amused.

For my computer… I have literally hundreds, if not thousands of desktops. I got a cycler and it changes them every 3 minutes. The cycler I use (called Wallpaper Cycler) has a calendar so you can have it change the folders from which it selects based on various criteria. I have a generic “wallpaper” folder that runs most of the year, but then I have a folder for each month, each season, various holidays. It was kind of a pain to get it set up the way I like it, but now that it’s running, I love it. Every day is a fresh surprise. When I change up decorations in the house, I have to find where I put them last year and make sure I don’t put them up too late. This just automatically throws up some leprechauns when St Patricks Day rolls around now.

I have a lot of nature images for the various seasons. Buds for spring, snow for winter, etc. I have abstracts and florals. I have some I’ve made with my name done up all fancy in photoshopping projects. I love minimalist versions of media I like. I have a bazillion Harry Potter and Star Wars wallpapers, and if you’re familiar with my username, it would come as no surprise Equestria is well represented.

I’m always on the lookout for new ones for my collection, so I’ll take any suggestions.

My personal favorite site for wallpapers is probably Smashing Mag. A wide variety of sizes and styles and something new every month like clockwork. Plus I love that they feature so many ones with months on them, as I love having a category that is just around for 30 days and then gone for another 330.

I used to use a picture I’d taken of Yellowstone Canyon. But some OS upgrade or another automatically changed it to the default image, losing my picture in the process, and I haven’t bothered to change it to anything else since.

My travel laptop: Capitol Reef NP from the Hickman Bridge trail

My home laptop: Lockheed Constellation at the Pima Air Museum (stretched to fill a widescreen monitor)

My phone: Balcony overlooking Lake Quinault, Olympic National Park

Work Laptop: Just one of the generic backgrounds of a tent and a starry sky. I always feel weird having personalized backgrounds for a work computer…

Black Laptop at home (The Blacktop): Various images I’ve found on Pinterest re: the Mass Effect video game franchise

Teal Laptop at home: Cycled pictures from my wedding

Phone: A picture taken of the hotel pool, with the towers of Dr. Doom’s Freefall in the background with a rainbow. I took it from my parents hotel room as I was getting ready for my wedding.

My laptop has the bottom photo of Belgium’s bluebell forest in this series, bordered by a matching blue.

My phone has a close-up of a cement retaining wall that had been painted blue but had become chipped and weathered over the years. There is yellow and orange lichen on it and there’s a vertical crack with a horizontal one branching off of it. I’d taken some photos of this wall a couple of years ago. Recently, I saw it had been repainted a bland beige. What a shame. It had so much character before.

My tablet has a close-up of an abalone shell.
