What's The Worst Beatles' Song Of All Time ?

I’m the first person to nominate “Run For Your Life” here so far.

And I like “Revolution 9” and I love “Baby You’re a Rich Man.” I love to sing “How does is it feel to be one of the beautiful people” to Anniz.

Chuck beat me to the punch: I think a valid argument could be made for (or against) “You Know My Name…”. But, then again, there are some who could find it kind of witty.

Holy stark contrast, Batman: It’s the ‘B’ side of ‘Let It Be’!!

(P.S.: Honourable mentions go to ‘Revolution #9’ and ‘Why Don’t We Do It in the Road’)

that is EXACTLY what I was thinking.

Ob-la-di Ob-la-gaaaaaaaah!

“Everyone’s Got Something to Hide Except for Me and My Monkey”, from the White Album. I love the Beatles, but good God this song is wretched!

Blue Jay Way. Worst song off their worst album (though some others listed here are noble contenders). I will take exception to the The Inner Light (definitely George’s best sitar piece); Piggies & You Know My Name… (both of which I find funny & harmless); and everything off the fantastic Rubber Soul that people have named.

Ugh, I hate Blue Jay Way too! I hate almost everything on the Magical Mystery Tour album.

That being said, my brother and I are big Beatles fans.

Nobody’s mentioned “Wild Honey Pie” yet? Good. It’s my pick. It’s not even a song so much as a snippet of acoustic psychadelia with caterwauling. The White Album and ** Let It Be** would seem to have the most vomitous tracks, although I can’t believe Anthracite picked “Everybody’s Got Something To Hide…” from an album that contains not only my pick but such contenders as “Long, Long, Long” (it feels like it, too), “Don’t Pass Me By” and “Savoy Truffle”. At least “Monkey” rocks somewhat.

 Thanks for the laugh, ** heembo. ** I’m also with the Revolution #9 group haters.

“Rocky Raccoon”
“Maxwell’s Silver Hammer”

Of the better known ones, I particularly do not like Love me do and Yellow submarine. On the other side of the scale, If I fell and Blackbird do not get enough credit.

I’m surprised there wasn’t a Beatles fan who could provide a better defense of the Beatles early work than that. Must have been a crappy forum.

See, the “I wanna hold your hand” era stuff may seem formulaic today, but thats because the Beatles early music influenced just about every pop or rock record made since. When they were new, they were as radical and revolutionary as the Sex Pistols were when they first appeared. The Beatles, in my opinion (and I’m not a real big Beatles fan, don’t even own a single album of theirs), are as significant to the development of rock and roll/pop as Shakespeare is to English literature.

And personally, I prefer the Beatles early to mid career work to most of their later stuff.

I first heard that song while in the car with my mother. She was never a big Beatles fan even back in the day, and it seems that she had never heard it before either. When the DJ identified the song, my mother thought he was joking. She couldn’t believe the Beatles ever really recorded anything that wretched.

I can’t believe it was 7 posts before someone nominated Revolution 9 (which I agree with wholeheartedly) or Run For Your Life (which I don’t, but can understand why others would)…

Anyway, yeah, my vote’s for Revolution 9…

Oh.

I’m sorry, everybody, but I don’t like the Beatles, so this is hard to answer, because I don’t like most of the Beatles’ songs. (I know, I’m a mutant, but I really don’t like 'em.)

Anyhow, I guess if I had to pick the Beatles song that didn’t like the most, I’d have to say Long and Winding Road as well.

While “Revolution #9” is a bad song, it at least has the appeal of being a screwed-up drug-laced song. I mean it’s not as if Lennon composed it while STRAIGHT, for cryin’ out loud! So to me, it’s a good-bad song; I don’t like it, but if it hits ya in the right mood - and maybe you would need to be high to appreciate it - it’s not the worst ever.

I’d go with “Why Don’t We Do It In the Road”; even though it too was/is a drug song, it’s not the technical novelty that “Revolution #9” is.

[Ok, so they BOTH suck… but I do think “Road” is worse…]

I have always had a sneaking suspicion that “Why Don’t We Do It In The Road” is a less than sly dig at the Stones. It sounds awfully like some of their tracks.Anybody else agree?.

And I love it when you sing for me.

All Together Now*…

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!

  • Hey, come to think of it, that’s a Beatles tune too (and not one of their most successful, I might add)

Are you crazy? That’s my favourite Beatles’ song!

It’s great.
