What's this book series?

I’m trying to think of a series of books that I read about 20 years ago. I can remember almost nothing about them, including any of the titles or the author or much of the plot.

So, when I was reading them there were four in the series. I think there was a White Queen and a Dark Queen and there were some animals who fought the Dark Queen. I think there was a bear and there may have been a badger or weasel of some sort. They were a Lord of the Rings kind of series.

As I type this, “circle” or “squared circle” comes to mind. Maybe this is some part of the series title?

Yeah, I know, could I be any more vague? I have confidence in each and every one of you.

Just a guesst: Chroncles of Narnia? (starting with “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe”)

No, no, wasn’t the Narnia books. There were seven of those, yes?

I think maybe it was an otter instead of a badger.

It’s not the Redwall series, is it? I don’t really remember any queens in it(I read it 10 years ago. that was many many books past) but there are a host of animals fighting on oposite sides…if it isn’t, you might be able to find out by looking up Redwall or Watership Down at B&N or Amazon, since one or both will help you find similar themed titles.

elfkin, thanks for the suggestion. It’s the “Circle of Light” series by Niel Hancock. The 4th book in the series is called “Squaring the Circle.”

The series is out of print so I looked at some of the used books. The cover for one of them says that there were millions of copies in print. Did anyone but me read them? Do they suck as hard as I remember?

The Circle of Light series is one I COULDN’T keep reading. Don’t remember much of it, but I think I got into the second book and let it go…

The Circle of Light series? Made it to book three before I got hopelessly bogged down  . I will say that I think they were far from complete dreck, but they did drag quite a bit. Especially as Hancock never took much ( or any ) time to explain the complex cosmology of his little world.

I read them…read them all as a matter of fact. When you asked the OP I knew I read the series, but could not for the life of me remember what the title was before I saw that you already had the answer.
