What's this movie?

Was listening to Little Steven’s Underground Garage (best radio show ever), on which he regularly airs movie clips (often from the 1950s or earlier). One quite funny one sounded familiar, and I’m almost embarrassed to ask 'cause I’m sure it’s a classic. During a fiery conversation, a man is going on about a former roommate who wasn’t just brawny, but also had brains. The woman (I think) continues speaking while the man mutters on as if he had a crush on the guy, complaining that he went on to marry a woman he didn’t care for, and how he just sent them a note instead of attending the wedding. Vague, I know, but it was very cute and snappy, and from a famous flick, I’m sure.
