At times that may be. The OP, however suggested/implied that only the creationist ones were unreasonable.
It was a joke, like the parent killing part. Try reading it again in full instead of parsing for religious debating points.
Yes, but this thread wasn’t about religion, or the Bible. It’s about opinions regarding a mod. There are about 10 threads going about religion. Why turn this one into another thread about religion because Badchad happened to see the word creationism?
It’s hijacking of the worst kind. Talk about RO threads. I can stay out of them if I chose to but turning every pit thread into a religious discussion is ridiculous.
Oh, good point. However, I only recall Tom being pitted over religion. I think this one would have staggered that direction anyway.
When was the last pitting of Tom not tied to Extreme atheisms.
Damn, I am dumb, I forgot about this thread: I have a problem with the moderator tomndebb Not religious, just another very bad poster.
Jim
tomndebb is cool by me. Smart guy, good mod.
Seriously. tom, in addition to being as good a moderator as any, always has good answers for factual questions in GQ. The issue of people being against him is completely baffling to me. I’ve read the posts in which he supposedly said or did something unfair, and don’t understand what the hell people are getting worked up over. The whole thing is just ridiculous.
I’ve never had any dealings with tom in his official capacity, but from what I’ve seen, I agree with everyone else. He’s respectful, tactful and thoughtful. If I had to have a hand slap, I believe I’d prefer it be from him the most. Of course there’s others, but I’ll only play one favorite.
Anyway, I feel that those who ‘have a problem’ with him are malcontents destined to be pissed at somebody. tom is an easier scapegoat than I would be, seeing as how he doesn’t ever seem to stoop to the lowest common denominator.
But, if I have one complaint, it’s that he oughta change his name. For in the rare instance that he may impugn debb’s honor.
If the thread wasn’t at least somewhat related to religion then the dig against creationists shouldn’t have been in there.
Is tomndebb one person? The looks like it might be for Tom and Debb. I picture a couple sitting down and discussing each post and arguing over the editing of each post before submitting.
Got me. I’ve alwas liked Tomndebb. Badchadd just seems like a sad little monkey who needs attention but just doesnt know how to ask for it nicely.
Tom is an excellent moderator, and 95% of the time an intelligent and logical poster. He just shouldn’t participate in religion threads. First of all, it takes two to make a flame war - I learned that 30 years ago. Second, he doesn’t seem to want to defend his beliefs, which is his privilege, but it makes some people go apeshit. Sometimes people push his buttons, but sometimes the buttons seem to push themselves. This doesn’t seem to happen in any other type of thread.
Maybe when he gets older he’ll realize the futility of doing anything but laughing at those who try to flame you.
I think Tom should use more profanity.
Tomndebb’s pleasant demeanor is clearly a ruse designed to make us all complacent. He is actually a werewolf! Lynch Tomndebb!
Good point. He acts like a townie, but his smooth delivery makes me suspicious. A Vote for Tomndebb!
I like tomndebb. And I think the Dope would be much better if there were more of him and fewer badchads.
I think Aeschines has a hate-on for tom, but then, he’s a well-known lunatic.
In badchad’s pit thread about tom, magellan and ElvisL1ves both dismissed him in terms that made it clear they had little respect for him as a poster and/or mod. I figure, if he’s pissed both of them off like that, he must be doing something right.
Furthermore, it has nothing to do with the resurrection of Jesus. Just another non-sequitor.
This might be the law, but in practice, we were NOT allowed to abstain from the pledge at my public school. When I was in the 3rd grade, even though I believed the pledge was “right”, I often thought of staying seated during it just to see what would happen. I never had the guts to do it but one of my classmates did and got paddled for it. I believe they called it insubordination.
The school faculty where I grew up was very adept at brow-beating religion and patriotism into the student body, and I’m quite sure that there was nothing the law could have done to stop them.
In other words, the argument that “any student who chooses so may abstain” is 100% bullshit and will never fly with me. The pledge should be banned, and the original manuscript pissed on.
The one thing that bugs Tapioca about Tomndebb is when he speaks of himself in the third person
