What's up with .Net?

So I try to get into my hotmail account tonight, and I get this error that reads:

Your Web browser options are currently set to disable cookies. To use .NET Passport, you must enable cookies.

That’s funny, b/c I have cookies enabled. So here’s what I have: Windows 2000 Pro w/SP3. Internet Explorer 6 with my cookies ENABLED!! Where’s the conflict coming from?

I think the .NET Passport system is screwed up right now. I’m getting all sorts of “We’re sorry, but the page you’re trying to reach is temporarily unavailable or the page may no longer exist.” errors when trying to log in or out of Hotmail, myself.

I had this problem last week, I just assumed it would go away. I assumed wrong. Is there something wrong on their side, or my side?

Have you performed a cookie enema on IE by flushing your cookies completely?

(What I mean to say, is that it may be a cookie that exists but is corrupted/in an old format/etc)

Microsoft is too cheap to get new hamsters! Bastards!

I’ve been trying to get into my hotmail account since last night, and I keep getting the IE “Cannot Find Server” page. I have tried literally everything. I flushed my cookies. I rebooted. I tried entering hotmail through other portals. I came in this morning hoping that whatever the problem was it would have been corrected by now, but no such luck. I looked all over the MSN site, and a few others, for a notice that says “There is a problem with hotmail which we are aware of and we’re working on it,” but I found nothing.

I think if the service is currently screwed up it would be nice if they gave us some sort of scknowledgement - and yes, I know it’s free, but people have come to depend on this free service.

And another weird thing is that my MSN instant messenger is telling me that I have seven new email messages in my inbox since last night. But I can’t see them, because I can’t get into hotmail!

Does anybody know what’s going on yet?

It seems to be working now. Sure, after I went ahead and started a Pit thread about it.

Its also possible to enable cookies but selectively disable certain sites which is what I think happened here. Check the exclusions list (Tools, Options, Security).
