They just reran the Christm^H^H^H^H^H^H^H Generic Winter Holiday episode I mentioned tonight. Anyone else catch the weirdness of it?
I’ll say this, though, I did like the shot of Logan playing pool alone in a bar on Christmas Eve, interspersed with all the other characters celebrating. Most cartoons would’ve succumbed to the temptation to give him a cheap Redemptive Holiday Miracle. Good for them.
I’m going to watch in a few hours, king of spain. I’m watching with interest because my friend said that “Angel is a big dork.” I responded, of course, with, “No way! He’s too good for Buffy!” We had a moment of confusion. When fandoms collide. I’ve always had a wing fondness, though, so I have high hopes.
Which one? There have been at least three X-Men cartoons. All were good, but the second (the one with the grungy American art) got way too complex after a while. It was also not really accesible to people without some knowledge of the comics and characters.
Well, according to that site Siegfried linked to, everyone wants to either be or be with the fuzzy dude. He came out on top of the “Whose powers would you want to have?” poll at 16%. (I picked Jamie Madrox, just to be diffirent.)
capacitor, if you’re referring to the one with that terrible theme song (“X-Men! X-Men! Save the Day! Save the Day!”) you can keep it. I hated that song worse than earwigs.
That winter holiday episode was great. Mmmmm. What girl could resist Kurt coming at her with mistletoe? Hey, Kitty, are you crazy? Why are running away from him? Just grab that cute fuzzy elf and snog him like there’s no tomorrow!
Oh, wait. Let me do that for you! Some snogging, some hugging, some kissing, and some shagging!
You know, I enjoyed the 80’s X-Men series when it first aired, but the episodes I’ve caught of it lately, since it started airing syndicated on the Fox Family Channel, really do not live up to my memory at all. I was quite disappointed.
The first thing that caught my eye about Evolution was how much it improved on the 80’s series visually: cleaner, slightly anime-influenced animation, and much improved character designs - no more nonsense like Gambit’s hot pink breastplate.
My one real complaint in this department is Jubliee. Was anyone else disappointed in how they seem to have made her, well, normal and preppy? (I’m going mostly by looks; she hasn’t had too much opportunity to display a personality yet, I don’t think.) She’s a Chinese girl in a yellow jacket who can shoot fireworks from her hands, but otherwise she bears no resemblance to the Jubliee I remember.
The first X-me cartoo premiered in the 80’s, and it centered around Kitty Pride entering the X-Men. She didn’t know what was going on, etc. Wolverine was the grouchy papa bear protector. This isn’t a bad scenario, but its what also started the next series (grungy one) and I admire Evolution for not really going with that:
Instead, they pick up new X-men several times, and each one fits into the group.
Did anybody catch last nights? “African Storm?” I dunno, maybe it’s my overwhelming apathy for Evan, but that episode made me not care to an overwhelming degree. Go away, you stupid Marrow wannabe!
“Pryde of the X-Men” (1989) was a made-for-tv movie.
There was an X-Men cartoon series that ran from 1992-1997.
Reruns of this series are currently airing on the Family channel at 10:00 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
X-Men : Evolution (2000) episodes are currently being shown on the Cartoon Network at 9:00 p.m. on Saturdays,
and at 10:30 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays.
Oh, this Saturday night July 5th X-Men : Evolution will be pre-empted on Cartoon Network when they will air 2 brand new episodes of Justice League.
