X-Men Evo 8/30/203 - Holy Effin Steffin!

Apokalypse fricking BLOWS MAGNETO UP (but five’ll get ya ten he comes back) and Rogue tosses Mystique’s stoned body off a cliff, where she cracks like a walnut! Talk about reaping what you sow!

Whoa. Just had to get THAT of my chest.

I don’t what to say. This episode took guts to make.

By the way, the shot of

Magneto tossing superheated satelites at Apokalypse

was awesome!

Apok is far more powerful tan his piddly comic-book incarnation. I wonder what his plan is?

I knew X-men had been around a while, but since 203? :D:

Hey, when Magneto was racing to the pyramid to meet Apocalypse, and the Magneto-ball changed shape … it looked just like how the spaceship transformed in the movie, Flight Of The Navigator. Too much so, I thought, to be coincidence. It’s an obscure thing to notice, but did anyone else catch that?

According to the comic, Apokalypse was the first mutant, and he was born in ancient Egypt, as advertised.

I watched it this morning and was rather impressed as well with how ballsey it got. In that scene with Rogue, I was expecting a nice, soppy, emotional bit, but got something COMPLETELY different. I’m very curious to see how this will effect Nightcrawler, especially in his relation to Rogue. The show seems to be able to handle such things rather well for a cartoon, so it should be interesting.
As for Magneto, they’ll probably have it come to be something more like a restraining/teleportation effect more than a “blowed-him-up-good” kinda thing. I’m sure once they get inside, the X-Men will find him stuck in some contraption and free him. Still, it was pretty damn cool.

I also liked Colossus’s little fight with Magneto as well. Boy’s got balls! You can see though where they’re setting up for the big C to come over to the X-Men’s side soon.

Now, if they can just get a better voice for Gambit. What kind of accent is THAT?
The one thing that gets me though is next week’s episode apparently has nothing to do with either storyline. It’s a focus on the Brother Hood acting like Boy Scouts and everyone else seems so “Oh geeze, these guys. Well, back to watching t.v.” Last week’s was also very out of the ordinary. I mean, they just unleashed what could prove to be the most deadliest, most powerful mutant this world has ever seen, and how do they react? By going on a cruise. And now that they’ve found him and just witnessed what they did, they’re just going to go back home and relax for another two weeks before reacting? I know some superheroes that need to get their priorities straight.

It was a rip at the misprint in the tittle’s date. Whereas Apocalypse was born B.C., the comic sure as hell hasn’t been around since 203.

Could it be the birth of Monk Nightcrawler?! A new hair cut, and a new attitude!

Did you guys catch the Back to the Future joke?

“Hey McFly!”

No. I managed to catch Flight Of The Navigator, but I missed Back To The Future? When was it?

I think the episodes were shown out of order. IIRC, Cruise Control was supposed to air after X23 but before Dark Horizon, in which Apocalypse was released.

As for the ending,

I was expecting a sappy outcome, with Rogue healing Mystique just to prove she was nothing like her. When she pushed Mystique off that cliff … damn. I think my jaw hit the floor when I saw the “statue” smash to pieces. Kurt’s reaction was painful to watch, but wonderfully done. When he teleported down the cliff after Mystique, wasn’t he attempting a rescue? Did he accidentally 'port to the wrong spot? He got just close enough to see her shatter on the rocks, but not close enough to grab her and 'port back up the cliff. I’m curious how this will affect his relationship with Rogue.

They gave teh Mystique stateue to the Brotherhood, who then proceeded to use it for all kinds of pranks and such. At one point Toad is pointing out that she is a lifeless statue by rapping her on the head and saying “Hello!? McFly?”

Anyone see the irony in that sentence?

Yeah, I don’t know why I keep spelling “Title” as “tittle”. Just too hard to get the brain out of the gutter, I think.

I was rather curious about something, though. I never really understood all of the Scarlet Witch’s abilities, but couldn’t she have done something to turn Mystique back to normal? I mean, aren’t her powers based around warping reality, or am I way off base here?

I’m also curious as to what’s going to happen with Apocolypse’s appearance. I mean, the skinny old guy is a huge difference from the big blue bastard he’s usually depicted as, but I did notice that as he got stronger and filled out more, his limbs started turning blue. I wonder if they’re eventually going to have him emerge more true to form, or if they’ve completely retconned him.

Actually, the order of the episodes made a kind of sense to me: They’ve unleashed the first and possibly most powerful mutant, but they don’t have a clue where or when he’s gonna strike next. They’ve also been in a heck of a battle. Why not blow off some stress?

I really liked this episode. Magneto’s attack was damn cool. I liked his comment about “high evolutionaries.” The shades of gray are very well shown, as in Gambit and Colossus’s realization that Magneto’s not a good guy, but that he’s the biggest gun they have, so they need him.

This episode was very good, but kinda depressing. One of the writers worked on Batman: The Animated Series, which shows they have some experience with this stuff. The other works on Teen Titans also, which is kinda odd to me…

I wonder if they are going to introduce into X-Men Evolution, the fact that Night Crawler joins the Church and becomes a Catholic priest like in the comic book.
The last X-men movie touched a bit on the fact that Kurt was a very devote and religious man

food for thought

Wait, I’m confused. Last night I saw “Day of Reckoning” in which it looked like Colossus and Gambit were just introduced, and there weren’t any mentions of what you’re describing. Are the new episodes only on Saturday? Where am I now in relation to the plot?

new eps are on the KidsWB saturday morning lineup, at 1030, I think. Reruns are the Cartoon Network’s adult swim specialty.

If you’re just getting introduced to Colossus and Gambit now, you’re a good way off from the current plotline.

I really liked how the movie portrayed Nightcrawler, but I have a feeling the cartoon is going to avoid the whole religious aspect of his character altogether. I mean, so far, I don’t recall ever seeing him pray, talk about God or going to Church or anything like that. I know the old comic apparently had him staying at a monestary, but this series doesn’t seem to be heading in that direction. But watching your now stone mother crumble to bits before you could have a strange effect on people, so who knows?

Well, when he first showed up he was wearing a sort of “monkly” robe, wasn’t he? I wonder what his parents think about the “new him.”

Well, I don’t think his mom thinks much of him anymore. Actually, I don’t think she thinks much about anything anymore…

“Nobody could have survived that!”
