OMIGAWD! My sister-in-law let me borrow her copy of the X-Men : Evolution comic book! Kurt is in the foreground and he’s SO cute!
I want that furry blue elf!
It’s the story of how Scott, Jean, Wolverine and the others come to be at Professor Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters.
I highly recommend this book for fans of the cartoon.
There’s a picture inside of this scary nightmare Kurt has of how humans would persecute him for being an elf/demon. Very frightening. I wanted to take him into my arms and comfort the poor dear.
What is it? The fuzziness? The tail? Would he be as inexplicably attractive if he was puke green or a pastel shade? I don’t get it.
On a non-fuzzy note, I’m curious if there was just one thing that made you say “Hey, this show is pretty good”, or if it was a gradual thing. Me, my liking for this show solidified when they had Professor X by the pool in a Hawaiian shirt. It just made him seem more normal. That, and the fact that they made him seem kind without being a pushover.
And, in regards to Sam Hell’s other question, I didn’t really watch a full episode until the episode “The Stuff of Heroes.” Prior to that, I had only caught parts of “Turn of the Rogue,” “Beast of Bayville,” and “Mindbender” as I waited for Futurama to start. I guess I got hooked because the story (the arc from “The Day of Reckoning” through “Mainstream”) I jumped into the middle of was so intriguing. Things were still unfinished at the end of that episode, so I just tuned in the following day to see it progress. I’ve been watching faithfully since then. I think the characters are great, although Evan does wear on me slightly. But I like the animation, the stories, and the characters.
Honestly, I started watching because I liked the movie so much and was pleasantly surprised to see Nightcrawler in the cartoon. (Although I was confused for a while because it was so different from the movie.) But I wouldn’t have stuck around if I didn’t think it was a decent show. I particularly like how they do some good high-school stuff and mix it in with the wacky superpowers. It’s rare to find cartoons with B and C plots. (Like Kitty last night with the pyramid hat, that served no real purpose but was a cute character thing.)
Oh Yes! Professor X doing that little “modification” to Kurt’s Image Inducer was probably the best part of the show. Plus, it was another thing that made the Prof feel like a member of the team, a part of the family, rather than some big head on high giving orders.
CadburyAngel is correct: Kurt does make a hot chick.
“Adrift” was a good episode. I’m wondering, though, why Kurt was trying to so impress Kitty considering he got with Amanda a couple episodes back. However, I really liked Scott and Alex’s scenes as well as the snowball fight at the mansion.
It was a good episode. Not only the plots but I was particularly amazed that they made Hawaii as a real place.
Is there a reason they didn’t use the Coast Guard? The Harbor Patrol seemed weird.
Girly Kurt was cute. He kinda had the same face as Kitty. Kurt’s lucky that guy from the 70s didn’t see that. He could have a whole lot of fun with that.
As for his buffed up act for Kitty I think she was just good fodder for a practical joke. I don’t think he was hitting on her.
Whoops, that’s my mistake, Fern Forest. I forgot that “Shadowdance” aired on Saturday (and those airings are about four episodes ahead of the weekday airings at the moment). So Kurt hasn’t hooked up with Amanda yet by “Adrift.”
I don’t think Kurt was hitting on Kitty in the modified inducer scene, but he has hit on her before…along with nearly every other girl he met until he hooked up with Amanda. Obviously, everyone remembers his “Chicks dig the fuzzy dude” bit. Playing armchair psychologist here, I’d say he’s overcompensating–remember that he considers his real appearance horrific (regardless of what the rest of us think). He’s insecure, so he goes over the top a bit when it comes to chasing girls.
Oh, YES! Kurt does make a very cute girl. It was nice to see the Professor’s sense of humor at work.
I viewed one of my tapes of the earlier episodes. I loved Scott’s reaction when he first heard (Kitty?) call Kurt “fuzzy elf”. Viewer sees Scott’s face as he quietly mouths the words “fuzzy elf?”
Yeah, Kurtina was funny. Him buff and fat was just hilarious.
What was Beast’s first episode? I saw him on “Adrift” last night and it seemed like he just appeared out of nowhere. Did they introduce him as fuzzy or more human (and why is everyone blue?)
He looked normal when he was introduced as a chemistry teacher at Bayville High, then changed as the result of a serum gone wrong in “The Beast of Bayville”. I don’t remember which episode introduced him, but he was definitely around in “Power Surge”. He only had a couple of scenes before “Beast of Bayville”, though.
Yeah, “Beast of Bayville” recently aired on Tuesday night. Anyway, Hank McCoy first appeared at the start of the second season (in “Growing Pains”). He’s mainly just had a few scenes here and there until “Beast of Bayville.” He was just your average chemistry/physical education teacher until the Beast got the better of him.
