While I don’t “get” polyamory, I know a few 20+ year poly marriages that have equal balances of power. They actually aren’t that rare in certain subcultures (SF Fandom and Paganism off the top of my head). Of course, with a divorce rate of near 50% and more than 2 people in a marriage, there is a little more fluidity in some of them than a simple “to death do you part” - i.e. a few of the players may switch out over 20 years.
Sometimes these have been one man and multiple women - in one case I know (I rented a room from these people) it was one guy, his legal wife, and two additional women - the women were all bi and the primary motivators for bringing new people into the house (I suspect I was being rented a room as a candidate - however not being bi nor even vaguely interested in the man in the relationship, it was pretty immediately dropped). Now, last I heard the legal couple and one of the women was still in the relationship - one of the women I know had dropped out.
That isn’t to say its problem free - especially in cases of dissolution. A good friend of a good friend was in a poly relationship (one legally married couple, one additional woman, both women bi) and lost rights to what she saw as “her” son when the marriage dissolved. However, I think that threesome lasted seven years before it dissolved - and dissolved not because the basic structure wasn’t stable, but because the other woman was a raving nutcase (which is part of the problem in “alternative lifestyle arrangements” the raving loony ratio seems to run a bit high in people who make this their conscious choice).

Ok to respond to the numerous messages. I do see Der Trihs coming to God, I see the signs, I wish I could call it prophecy, though I just see the patterns that occurred in others and nothing I would be willing to go out on a limb on yet. I truly beleive it is a great moment when a person comes to God and serves God and I rejoice at that possibility.
As for insulting people of different beliefs, Christians have been continuously put down by people who claim that science is the most logical way to explain the world, they call Christians different versions of ‘fools’ because they refuse to accept the scientific conclusions and theories to the absolute degree. They ignore the fact that some of these Christians are far more intelligent then themselves, and understand scientific principals better them themselves, may have developed some of them, but they know that this world is but a illusion and God is the only way to the truth.

Really. Then why am I not burning down churches, protesting the funerals of the religious, assassinating priests, or doing the other things I could at least try to get away with, even in this “political context” ? Why am I at least not calling for the closure of churches, the outlawing of religion, and so forth ?
Because I am NOT “a zealot of the worst kind”, or even close; I’m a blunt guy on the internet, who doesn’t bother to hide his contempt for the biggest sacred cow in our culture. Exchange, say, racism for religion for my target and few would call me a “zealot” or “hateful”.

kanicbird, I say this with all due respect for your faith, it was this sort of talk that turned me from a Christian to a Deist. I can name the individual who helped me clarify my beliefs - and he didn’t clarify them in any direction he intended. Frankly, its a huge turnoff for a lot of people and if you are meaning to witness for God, you should probably evaluate the effect your words have on the individuals you are witnessing to (and the innocent bystanders who may catch the shrapnel) . It is easy in witnessing to do more harm than good (or at least, from your point of view I imagine I took a wrong turn) and I’d imagine you don’t want to be responsible for the loss of souls.
