Cade’s 6 months old and he seems to be doing fine. Actually, we named him and his sisters using this board.
Anyway, nothing is wrong with his strength, energy, or general health. He seems fine. However, he has a “bump” or “sore” on his lower…lip. I don’t think cats have lips in the human sense but he has a bump where his lower front lip would be. It does not hurt him, but it’s red. I’ve pushed on it and he seems fine.
I’ve uploaded photos, including one of him without the sores, to Flikr.
Yep. Go to the vet please, to be sure- sometimes steroids are needed, and a change of food might be the key. I’ve a kitten suffering with this now, and two food changes haven’t helped. Hard to track down the allergen/trigger, but a vet can at least confirm the diagnosis, and check for a skin parasite. My kitten has had three bouts with this, but is thriving in spite of her discomfort.
See your vet.
I have a cat that has these ulcers in a few spots in his mouth. We’ve been unsuccessful in getting them to go away with a change of dishes and a prescription diet, but they don’t get bigger and they don’t seem to bother him. His vet watches them for changes at his annual check-up.
He also had some growths in the back of his throat which, on biopsy, turned out to be related. They were removed surgically and haven’t reoccurred.
Other than that, he’s totally normal health wise, if that makes you feel any better.
Beaucarnea pretty much nailed it. Your pictures show a typical EG bump. My cats have had them in the past. Usually a shot of prednisone will clear it up. However you may have to track down the cause to prevent a recurrence. In my case, it turned out to be the plastic food and water dishes my cats used. Plastic can very easily harbor bacteria, even after a thorough washing. After I replaced the plastic dishes with ceramic/glass, they never had that particular problem again.
