What's wrong with my Sim kids?

A little backstory:

Mohammar Jaffed died of old age, but just before he went, he managed to get his ex-wife Shenene pregnant (the ol’ stud!). Shenene, though devastated by the death of her ex-husband, fell in love with the idea of children and quickly adopted two more boys (Want a challenge? Try raising two toddlers and a baby with only one parent). So, while Stephen, Devin and Jax were growing up, Shenene met Colin Straight and fell in love. Colin moved in.

Sadly, tragedy struck and Shenene died while pregnant with her fourth child, leaving Colin to raise her children. (And here’s where I interject that I wish it were possible for an adult to adopt children already living with him).

Colin cared for his wards, but he eventually found a new love: Amaya. When Colin and Amaya married, however, things got weird (excluding the fact that her name was now Amaya Straight.) Whenever the boys saw the two of them kissing, or doing other romantic things, they became upset: crying, carrying on, and so on. Their relationships with both of their guardians plunged to -100 immediately. They didn’t get angry, however (no red haze on the friendship images).

So what happened? Bug? Something I didn’t realize I was doing wrong? Some weird, misplaced jealousy? Their thought bubbles didn’t indicate why they were upset.

It’s probably just that Colin was married to their mother, and they feel he married again with undue haste. It sounds similar to the reaction you get when children find out one of their parents is cheating. It should clear up with time.

But Shenene and Colin never got married.

Do you think this matters to children? Even pixilated children of slutty game characters?

Why won’t anyone think of the Sims children?!!

Married, mackin’ – same difference.

Wow. I’m rather impressed that the game’s AI is that complex. Biggirl, your post made me laugh.

It has its drawbacks. For example, if a child is taken by CPS and adopted into another family, all their ties with the original family are broken and reformed with the adoptive family. So, years down the road, the adopted child could end up married to their biological parents and the game won’t do anything to stop it. But you know the truth. And the truth, it burns.

I really think the weddings in the game need a “speak now or forever hold your peace” interaction.
