I mean, I find myself agreeing with you more and more these days. You used to be one of the posters that made me want to reach through the computer and start wringing necks. My first 6 months on the board, I probably rolled my eyes at your posts enough to make myself dizzy.
But now, NOW, I catch myself with head nodding in agreement more often than not. Even if the debated point finds me of the opposite opinion, I can’t even complain about your style anymore.

I agree with Divemaster. At first I wanted to injure phil on a regular basis. I mean, he made me mad. And now I’m like “Wow! I completely agree with Phil!” Not only that, but lately I’ve been tempted to actually take the time to email him, and tell him that I’m actually beginning to like him more and more. Of course, I haven’t because I’m lazy (As my close personal friends can attest to) and I’m scared he won’t care. =(
But, I’m going to post this, on the off-chance that he DOES care a lil bit about what I think of him.
For many years there has been claims in the popular press that people in the “South” are just nicer than anywhere else. Everyone claimed this was due to upbringing and innate Southern Charm. The drastic change in our Phil’s behavior is proof that the water in states south of Washington, DC are laced with NF5 (Niceness Factor Five) and this creates this so called Southern Charm in the people there.
Watch out for his first trip to Ohio, the rebound effect will be so great, the flames that will errupt will be enough to make Krispy Original shiver.

Obviously, this post is only partially true. Nobody considers Northern Virginia the South.
I consider Northern Virginia the South. Also Maryland, much of Pennsylvania, Delaware, and souther New Jersey. Then again, I’m from Boston, and consider Worcester, MA to be in the west.
Amen, waterj. I always get laughed at when I say some of PA is in the south, and anything south of DC may as well be the Deep South. Good to see I have some support.
And, as for the Phil issue: I find myself disagreeing with him more and more now, although, at the same time, I know that on many issues, he’s right. Oh well…I’ve just been getting all emotional over this whole election thing, and I can’t help but notice that he really hasn’t been. Maybe everything will go back to normal after this craziness has ended.

I’ve seen some of the trademark pld flashes of anger - he kinda went batshit in the body hair thread in IMHO, but yeah, with all this election stuff he, Ankh_Two, and Anthracite have been the closest things to “cool heads” that we have.

Yeah, same here. I liked him better when he was a raving radical malcontent. Virginia seems to be turning him right-wing. On the other hand, he’s one of the half-dozen folks who get my “Mister Jingaling” references.
