What's your annual salary divided by your SAT score?

If I hadn’t had a full fellowship for my grad school, it’s unlikely I would ever have finished my Ph.D. I just didn’t have the financial resources to get by on partial TA-ships and the like that I was offered from some of the other universities I applied to.

That said… I think that for many people who go on for advanced degrees, money isn’t the prime motivator - love of the field is. I consider myself lucky to have figured out early on that my job was sucking the life out of me and I needed to try for something I could enjoy doing for the rest of my life. It’s been tough at times but I have no regrets. And while we can’t all set the world on fire, I’ve already got one paper that’s liable to be cited for a long time by others in my field, so I think I’m doing okay.

This gives me a brilliant idea… if I add in my tuition waver and fee fellowship, I jump up to a mind-blowing $17.40 per. That’s about a 50% increase, which in my book ain’t too shabby.

And from what I hear, they’re raising fees next year (Damn you, Gubernator!) so if I still get my fees, it’ll go up even more. Oh happy happy day…

$36.23 – Sysadmin BS Computer Science & Physics 1 year (On an unrelated note I’ve worked 16 hours today and I’m salaried … anyone want to trade?)

hmm, ACT = 34, which equals 1500 sat?

Then… 3.88 per point. McDonald’s, 3 years.

$0! College student, chose volunteering in my field over a crap job that would bring in actual cash.

Nothing in the bank, and headed for five (hopefully only five. Please, Og, only five) years of grad school. This should be interesting.

$80 per point, what with the exchange rate. Software geek, work in London, 5 years experience

And I was sick that day, too

What’s the conversion ACT to SAT? I took the ACT (28 out of ???). Can anyone help, I’m curious. Thanks ~S

Given that max ACT = 36 and max SAT= 1600, set up proportion, about a 1244.

Hmm, when I actually do that instead of saying “oh, that sounds right for mine,” I come up with a 1510

How the heck do y’all remember your SAT scores? That was high school!

Anyway, I calculated it using my GRE Verbal + Math.

53.6.

Ecologist (doing biological analysis for the Federal gov.)
LSU (B.S.) and UNCW (M.S.)
6 years exp.

I think my SAT score was a little lower, so that would raise the ratio somewhat.

Thanks, chaoticdonkey. 1244? Man, I’m a brick  . Or, I was.

To the question at hand–

$28/per point, give or take $2 per point (I don’t keep very close track of tips)

College dropout (33 credits, Accounting, NMSU)

Almost 9 years tending bar, just over 3 years managing said bar.

I don’t like this thread… well… I do like the idea, I just need to make more money… (don’t we all?)

Currently I am at $28.40 per point. Systems Admin, 5 years experience
Seton Hall University.

I did also take the SAT’s in the 7th grade.
If I use my score from the 7th grade, I am up to $48.55

If only I could take that ratio and apply it to my high school SAT score… I would be doing ok…
