In connection with the “what’s your IQ” poll, here’s another one for you smarty-pants dopers here at SDMB. When you were in high school, how did you score on the ACT and SAT (if you took the SAT)?
My first shot I scored a 29, second go around I got a 31.
Now you go.
-foxy
I took the SAT and my best score was a 1350. Should put me in the lower-middle of the pack here, I’m guessing:)
(gulp)
1200
I’ll bite.
29 ACT.
1330 SAT.
Not as good as most people here prolly, but sure scores to be proud of. I kept getting letters from colleges, “We want you, and we want to give you a scolarship” .
“Meh,” says I, “I only have a 3.0 GPA”
“Oh, wanna pay to come here?”
“eh, no, I’ll pay a whole lot less for a less uptight education, thank you very much!”
ok, that wasn’t an actual conversation, but yeah.
Off to college I go!
Didn’t take ACT, 1490 SAT.
ACT: 32 or 33
SAT I got 800 on the verbal
[sub]math? what math score?
ok, it was 450:eek:[/sub]
ACT: 29 and 31, respectively
SAT: 1290, and I wish I would have taken it a second time, but I had too much partying to do
There’s a lesson here, youngsters, so read carefully.
The first time I took the ACT I got a 32. There was no second time. No SAT either. How much better was I going to do than 99th percentile?
This was during the Vitenam war, when male high school seniors were killing themselves trying to get into college. My grades weren’t as good as my test scores, and while I got into my first choice school, I didn’t get a single scholarship offer from anyone.
Let that be a lesson to you when you start to have ulcers about your test scores.
1425 SAT score (695 math, 730 verbal) and a 31 or 32 (can’t remember which) for ACT.
SAT–1410
ACT–33
I took the ACT three times, and went up a single point with each retest. I really think familiarity with the format/process can help a lot.
Don’t exactly remember, but I think it was 1430. No ACT.
And I must say, the GRE was way better than the SAT
I’ll chime in while I still have the highest (this will be short lived).
SAT: 1540
ACT: 33
ACT 34
SAT 1540.
Standardized tests are my friend.
I got a 29 on the ACT when I first took it as a sophomore, then got a 33 as a junior. I got a 1360 on the SATs, without any prep and with several shots of Jack Daniel’s in my system. I should have retaken, but I was going to a state university that didn’t require it.
I took the ACTs, but I forget my score. SATs: 1420 (800 verbal, 620 math).
I’m ambivalent about admitting this: I got a 1600 on the SAT.
Which just goes to show that these tests have no relation to reality.
I took the ACT three times (just seeing if I could push my score up any). The first time, I got a 33. The second time, I got a 33. The third time, I got no sleep in the preceding 24 hours, and was still quite drunk when I sat down to take the test.
The third time, I got a 35.
There’s a lesson about standardized tests in there somewhere, I think.
It might help to include the year you took either test as well.
Why?
IIRC the score system was readjusted to reflect a general decline in scores. So folks who took the test before the readjustment would actually score higher using today’s test standards.
(Still looking for the cite.)
ACT: 28
No SAT, it’s not really looked at in the midwest apparently.
GPA upon graduation: 2.93, I slacked a bit
GPA now: 3.1 Woohoo! I’m above a 3.0!
No SAT
ACT:30 cumulative, individual scores were 27, 28, 32 and 33.
