On my stomach, head facing to the right, left arm under the pillow, right arm under my head. I can NOT sleep in any other position. In fact, my trick to keep from falling back asleep in the mornings it to turn onto my side. Keeps me awake XD
I don’t sleep on my back anymore (I occasionally get sleep paralysis if I do and I’d rather not experience that ever again, thank you very much!).
I sleep on my side, whichever side has me facing out of the bed, not in. Which is my left side when I am in my own bed, with my husband, and on my right side if I go in to resettle the little one and stay in with her.
Usually on my back, sometimes on either side. Never on my stomach.
I used to exclusively sleep on my stomach, but over the last couple of years I have unexpectedly gained weight, something I’d never done before, and it’s made sleeping on my stomach very uncomfortable. So now I sleep on my back, where I am guaranteed to snore*, or I sleep on my right side.
*There’s nobody else to listen in, though, unfortunately
Lying on my back or to the right
When I’m sleeping alone: on my right side, right arm under the pillow, left hand under my head, right leg straight, left leg bent. After a while I may roll over.
When my partner is with me: either spooning or back to back.
And all this depends on whether there are cats and/or dogs on the bed.
Curled up in a ball amid a nest of pillows and blankets.
My default sleep position? I’m for it!
I’m a rotisserie sleeper; round and round I go.
Been researching sleeping bags and sleeping pads for an upcoming backpacking trip. According to those manufacturers, about 70% of people are side sleepers.
The few times I’ve fallen asleep on my back, I wake up with a horribly sore neck, as my head always turns one way or the other, and having your neck turned for an hour or more does not feel good.
My default is similar to the pic on the far left, except my left arm is curled under me, with my hand usually in the vicinity of my wiener. My right hand is usually placed in front of my mouth to keep damn dirty spiders out.
My secondary position is a mirror image of the primary.
Middle picture from the OP, except a huge heap of 6 or 7 pillows make a sort of hill, and my upper half is lying slanted upward. My underneath arm is under several of the pillows.
I have a lot of respiratory allergies, and even with the drugs & stuff, I have a life-long habit of sleeping with my head up high on a hill so I can be sure to breathe freely.
Default in the winter: similar to the middle picture in the OP, except my arms are bunched more up under my chin. Sometimes I wake up having clawed at my chest, leaving bruises. On two pillows since I am really heavy.
In the summer, much looser and more spread out, but still on my belly.
Before I got a sleep number bed, it was on my left side.
Now that I have a sleep number bed, I can sleep on my back without pain, so I alternate between right side, back, left side. But because the dogs sleep in the middle, facing right doesn’t work well for long, so its split between back and left side.
Right side. I can’t sleep any other way.
I sleep on my stomach hugging the pillow like it’s trying to escape.
If I sleep on my side I absolutely must have something between my legs like a pillow or the comforter all balled up.
On occasion I do end up on my back. When I do, I almost always have weird dreams. Most of them have to do with me falling off of a very tall precipice.
The only thing I can say categorically: Never on my stomach. How can anyone do that?
But aside from that, I do either side. I also do a sorta hybrid side-stomach thing that I can’t really describe very well, always hugging a pillow. (I’d replace the pillow with a plushie, but they get pretty grody when you do that, so mine remain purely decorative.) I also like to have something between my knees, such as the comforter or sheets, but I’m not always so lucky as to be able to arrange that. I’ve been vaguely thinking about getting a body pillow for ages now; if I ever did, I might shift to a full-side position, as part of the reason for my hybrid side/stomach is that it allows me to splay my legs a bit.
If I’m having a very hard time getting to sleep, I’ll lay on my back, in the “mummy position”, and clear my mind (I normally daydream and fantasize when I’m going to sleep). Almost always, this gets the job done, though it takes a while and isn’t as pleasant as the normal way.
On my stomach, head facing left, both arms sort of hugging the pillow. For some reason I’m most comfortable facing the door on the side of the bed closer to the door. So years ago in our previous residence, when the bed was oriented differently in relation to the door, I slept on the other side of the bed facing the other direction, but still always on my stomach.
