What's your earliest record of being on the internet?

Inspired by this thread, whats the earliest refernce to yourself, either by username or email address or even your real name, that you can find on the 'net via Google?

Mine is August 9th, 1996, here, apparently after an orgy of watching all 17 episodes of “The Prisoner”

Who can go back the furthest?

mm

I found my first post ever, dated Fri, Sep 1 1995 12:00 am, in (I’m ashamed now to admit it) rec.martial-arts.

I found posting by me in alt.wired from Jun 20 1994.

Oops, found a slightly older one, May 27 1994 in rec.arts.sf.written.

The earliest I can find is March 6, 1994. Here.

There should be some earlier posts from 1993, but my name is a bit too common, and I can’t remember the group names. alt.rec.camping or something maybe.

October 4, 1994 in rec.arts.startrek.current. Then a couple weeks later, I get totally whooshed in alt.religion.kibology.

An interesting topic…

I would assume it’s my first several postings to USENET in college, back in 1990. A check via Google Groups shows the earliest ones on record dating to April of that year, to rec.games.bridge, rec.humor, rec.games.rogue and alt.folklore.urban.

Dec. 6, 1996, on alt.tv.simpsons. I was a freshman in college.

9.5 years on the Internet! It seems longer for some reason, like it’s always been a part of my life.

1994 is the earliest I can quickly locate, but I expect I posted earlier to some private OS/2-related newsgroups which will not be found on Google.

October 12, 1995, I created a character on a MUCK, that still exists. Occasionally I’ll log into it to see what’s going on, but nowadays, I usually waste my time here.

Tripler
For my greatest “volume of fire”? It’s here at the SDMB, starting May 2000.

The earliest I can find right now is March 13, 1994, in a post to rec.arts.celtic.

I get the extreme pleasure in being forever recorded as a contributor (once) to rec.humor.funny:
October 2001-ish

Moe other Newton and TI-99/4a stuff shows up round that time too.

Well, depending on how your wording is interpreted, 1974, if the date being written about rather than the date of the internet-article’s creation is the one that counts; or 1989 if date of authorship is the one that counts.

Am I winning?

I sort of remember in eigth grade computer lab I would alwasys get the corner computer and get in Chat House. That would have been 97 or 98.

I googled it, but the link wasn’t going anywhere. Oh well, that made me feel old

I was posting to rec.games.frp.dnd in July 1992. I was surprisingly coherent for a 9-year-old.

Hm, I can find a posting I made April 30, 1998 but nothing earlier. Unfortunately for this thread I mostly participated in chat (91-97) and used a rotated array of user names even when not chatting.

My earliest posting to Usenet was Mon, Dec 7 1992 3:57 pm. It was to comp.periphs asking about programs to use with a flat bed scanner we had at school and to fufill the requirements of the OP, I do reference myself in the posting. Does that count?

The earliest ones that I can find date to early 2002.

Late 80’s from a variety of places, several C standards documents.

I see one from January 13, 1986 in net.sf-lovers. That was before I had Internet service; it’s a mention of new books for the month, with my novel listed.

My first actual post to Usenet seem to date around ten years later.
