On Wednesday Bret Devereaux posted a special off-schedule, non-historical post: “The War in Iran”. 342 replies in 36 hours. I give up.
Why are you trying to read blog replies in email? Can’t you go to his blog site & read there?
Email is for two-way communication, not for passive content consumption. Imagine having the entire NY Times emailed to your client every day. Sounds wacky.
If you keep your email to actual two-way communication and use other tech for things that are in effect newspaper or magazine or blog subscriptions, you’ll have a much easier time managing your total information flow to your liking.
The ACOUP blog replies are organized by tree, meaning that it’s difficult to pick out new replies without rereading the whole thing. The email updates (when there aren’t a zillion of them) are a convenient way to follow up on new replies.
Ouch!
I used to participate in a very active tree-structured board. So hard to keep up with.
My sympathies; that’s a genuinely hard problem if you truly care about the content. As I used to do where I was.
