What's your favorite fruit on cold cereal?

I don’t put fruit on my cereal, but I do eat raisin bran.

Sliced bananas on Rice Krispies was my favorite breakfast as a kid.

I presumed that the poll question was asking what fruit you like to top your cereal with, and that cereal that came with fruit already in it was disqualified from the question.

Answering the question as I understood it, it’s bananas, when I can be bothered to put anything on it.

Who puts fruit on cereal for the benefit of the fruit? That’s like saying I don’t put bacon or cheese on hamburgers, because good bacon and cheese doesn’t require embellishment.

Ditto.

Well… that’s also true, good bacon and cheese don’t require embellishment, either.

For that matter, truly good cereal doesn’t need embellishment, either.

Maybe not, but corn flakes don’t meet my personal criteria for “truly good cereal.” The point being, I don’t put bananas on corn flakes to make the bananas taste better.

I apply the same principle to sandwiches: I don’t put bacon and guacamole on a turkey sandwich to make the bacon and guacamole taste better.

Seconded.

Another vote for blueberries, unless it’s Corn Flakes, then it’s bananas.

Depends on the cereal:

Cheerios … bananas;

Rice Krispies … bananas;

Corn flakes … strawberries, blueberries, or peaches;

Life … blackberries, raspberries, or blueberries.

I love Apple-Cinnamon Cheerios and real chopped apples with cinnamon in oatmeal.

I also love cherries, but don’t think I’ve ever had them with cereal.

I just bought a container of kiwi fruit. Anybody ever had these with cereal? :dubious:

I’m not really a cold cereal kind of person, so I don’t eat it often. Maybe three times a month and mostly at night. When I do I add fruit maybe 25% of the time. If I do add fruit, it’s a banana.

If I want fruit in the morning, mostly I would go with simple berries (any kind) and whipped cream. (Yes, just that, and never on waffles. What a waste of a good waffle).

Peaches or pineapple go well on cottage cheese, but not on cereal.

Blueberries for me.

I hadn’t heard about that strawberries were being dyed, but I don’t buy them as much because they generally taste like styrofoam. Organic strawberries do seem much tastier than the conventional ones, and generally the smaller ones are better than the bigger ones. Are the organic ones dyed too?

I would hope organic strawberries are not dyed. I try to buy them in season and hope they haven’t dyed red b/c I have an allergy to red dye.

I usually put bananas, but that’s because bananas are available year round. I prefer blueberries, but only when they are in season.

Bananas. I will do blueberries, strawberries or a very ripe peach if we have them (and don’t have bananas) but that’s mostly theoretical because we always have bananas.

The absence of blueberries here is a real problem. I’m not even going to vote.

Bananas are an every day thing.

Blueberries are a treat, but need a sweetener.

But why not go to the moon and say raspberries then?

I’m from Georgia, so I have to say peaches. But when they’re in season, a sliced fresh peach in a bowl of corn flakes is breakfast for the gods!

a plain cereal with milk I’ll have tinned peach slices.

My usual breakfast lately is Greek yogurt with some fresh blueberries and/or raspberries and just a bit of granola type cereal for texture
