What's your go to drink when your stomach isn't feeling well?

Peppermint tea.

Ginger ale. Works a treat almost every time. Otherwise fizzy water helps too.

When my stomach is giving me issues, drinks usually don’t help. I find that vomiting is much more effective.

Cold, but not iced, mint tea. I may add milk or cream to the mint tea, but I usually don’t have either on hand.

Alternatively, ginger ale or ginger beer. Preferably the latter, if it’s available, as it generally has a stronger ginger flavor.

It depends on the cause. Something too spicy or too greasy before bed gets a large glass of milk.

If I’m sure I’m just going to be making a trip to the bathroom I’ll go with a larger glass of plain old water to dilute the acid that will be coming back up. Once that happens I’ll immediately down another glass of water in case I’m going to be doing it again because dry heaves really suck.

If it’s an upset stomach, something like the flu - warm ginger ale

If it’s due to indigestion - small glass of milk and a slice of plain white bread

Beer. A good darker one.

A friend pointed out to me that phosphoric acid, one of the ingredients down the list in Coca-Cola, is also the main ingredient of some anti-nausea medicine you can get at the pharmacy. I haven’t done any further thought about whether the amount of phosphoric acid in Coke is even enough to be suitable for the medical indication, but that’s part of my justification for having Coca-Cola now.

Also: Mountain Dew has orange juice!

Acids & Nausea: Ginger is often referred to as “Nature’s Dramamine” and is also recommended for menstrual cramps. Lemon cuts through grease from foods, as does orange or lime (citric acid? ascorbic acid? Are they the same thing?)

Indigestion: Cola nut is apparently good against queasiness, which is why Coca-Cola and Pepsi-Cola were originally marketed as medicinal solutions. Seltzer was already being used with other extracts like quinine and sarsaparilla (and some kind of root that is the basis for Root Beer) so throwing Cola-nut and other exotic stuff into seltzer was something of a burgeoning “Tonic” industry back then. Alkalyne seltzer seems to help a lot, too — don’t confuse it with Efferdent.:dubious:

When I’m really having stomach trouble, a slice of candied ginger is great. I’m sure it’s not the sugar that’s helping, but the sugar softens the ginger burn a bit to make the slice more palatable.

–G!

Plop, plop
Fizz, fizz
Oh, what a relief it is!

Club soda or chicken broth depending on which sounds better at the moment.

That’s usually the reason my stomach isn’t feeling well to begin with!

Peppermint tea. It usually settles my stomach, but I also find it not too terribly unpleasant if I do find myself throwing it up.
