This article interested me a lot. Researchers have discovered that the bacteria inside people’s guts come in three types. Once they do more research this could have huge implications. Also, I had no idea that we had 10:1 microbes to cells in our bodies.
This wasn’t the kind of thread I thought it would be. Also, that link asks you to register to view the article.
I have no idea what this thread is about.
A “GUY” type and a “GUT” type are two very different things!
Damn typos! Mods can you change guy to gut, please!?
I’d much prefer posting to the typo thread than the intended one…!
Done. Anyone who wants to start a “what’s your guy type?” thread is welcome to do so.
I thought this would be about somatotypes, although technically, endomorph is the “gut” type.
My gut type is XXL.
Seriously the article is interesting. I had seen a somewhat garbled version of it in a local newspaper a few days ago. It seems in one paragraph to say that gut type is independent of BMI and in the next to say it might depend on weight. I am sure we will find out more in a while. I was especially interested in the fact that gut type appears to be correlated with ability to metabolize carbs.
My type of gut is “beer.”
I love how the “artist’s rendition” is just cartoons of three digestive systems, each with its own color of sprinkles.
I’m interested to know more about the distribution of the different gut types and whether one can change from one to another if it will improve health. There was a thread a while back about fecal transplants for treatment of C. difficile - maybe you can change your gut type in a similar way and cut your chances of cancer? Looking forward to the details on this stuff. I wish I still had free access to all the good medical and science journals, because it’s best to get the info right from the source.
