That horrible Paul McCartney song.
Jona Lewie - Stop the Cavalry
I guess that’s little-known in the USA? It’s the only Christmas song I can bear to listen to more than once.
Fairytale Of New York - The Pogues with (the late great) Kirsty MacColl
I just sent my distant daughter a singing Xmas card with this song embedded. I positively HATE the song, especially when Jose really leans into “I wanna wish you…”
However, we both find the parody “Police Lock Me Up” hilarious, so it was the perfect card to send her.
ACDC - “Mistress for Christmas”. Fortunatly, I heard it at lunch so all is well.
At least until thing go to Mayan hell on 12/21/12.
“For Unto Us a Child is Born” by whatever choir is doing Handel’s Messiah.
Yep.
Grandma Got Ran Over By a Reindeer. I haven’t heard it yet this year. Also the Eagles Please Come Home For Christmas. This one I have heard.
Those are the two that always get me, too, almost to the point I have to leave the room if someone else is in there with me.
Both my parents died when I was in my twenties, and that’s what I think about.
I like that one a lot, too – I don’t think it’s known in the US either.
All I Want For Christmas Is You - Vince Vance and the Valliants
It’s Gonna Be A Cold Cold Christmas by Dana. Track 1 on our own Xmas compilation.
MiM
Fuck yeh. Also, “Do They Know it’s Christmas” by Band Aid. The Vince Guaraldi Trio Charlie Brown Christmas album.
For me it’s Jonny Mathis’ Sleigh Ride. I don’t recall a time in my life when I have not sang YOOOO Hoo! along with the song, including just now while I previewed the link.
My daughter and I crack up every time we hear this song. It would make the perfect background for the ultimate gay video.
This.
Christmas Time is Here, David Benoit version.
“I Saw Daddy Kissing Santa Claus” by Dr. Demento
You don’t need Deck The Halls or Jingle Bell Rock – 'cause you can spin the dreidel with Captain Kirk and Mister Spock.
I’m entirely serious.
