I don’t always disagree with his views (sometimes I do, sometimes I don’t), but he is obviously vain. It’s all about him, him, him. He also interrupts too much. My mom, who is more conservative than me and who claims that she likes Hannity, can be found screaming at the TV, “SHUT UP HANNITY!!!” when he starts interrupting his guests on the Fox News show. He is so irritating when he does that.
I don’t agree with Alan Colmes all the time either, but he seems like such a nice, reasonable, good-natured guy. Why can’t Hannity be more like him?
There are conservative radio hosts whose rhetoric is rather outlandish but offset it with a certain tongue-in-cheek quality. G. Gordon Liddy comes to mind; I enjoy him, and I feel like I learn a little something (even if he’s full of crap, at least he’s full of crap with breadth and depth).
Hannity is squarely in the crusade crowd and takes himself way too seriously. Mike Gallagher is another (Look at me! Look at all the money we raised for the troops! Look at me! Oh…and Look at me!), but at least it’s apparent Hannity is intelligent enough to tie his own shoes.
(Note: I’m sure I’d have similar views about liberal hosts, but where I live we don’t have any.)
which is usually right after they pose a challenging question that he doesn’t have an answer for or when they point out that he is lying.
The first time I heard him tell a young caller (high school age) that , “If you love your country, you must be a republican because democrats hate this country and everything it stands for”, it has been pretty hard to take anything else he says seriously.
Hannity is not an “extremist.” An extremist is someone with views outside 3-sigma. Hannity’s views are mainstream conservative.
Now I’m a pretty conservative kind-a-guy. But I’ll also be the first to admit that Sean Hannity gets on my nerves. Despite his insistence to the contrary, he really does appear to be a mouthpiece for George Bush and the Republican Party. In his mind, GB can Do No Wrong[sup]TM[/sup]. And unlike some other conservative pundits (e.g. George Will), Hannity is not an intellectual heavyweight. He’s just some guy spouting off his views.
I much prefer commentators who are alsoindependent thinkers, even if I disagree with their views.
Umm, calling people “traitors” simply because this disagree with you on an issue is quite an extremist position to take. Esp. given the punishment is death.
Calling for the killing of everyone who disagrees with you isn’t moderate behavior.
Barry Goldwater was mainstream conservative. The people calling themselves conservative now are an entirely unrelated classification. The label doesn’t fit them in any way, shape or form. Calling yourself “conservative” doesn’t make you one.
Didn’t he used to be a WWF announcer?
He’s not my cup of tea, but he’s better than that Shepard Smith!
Whata moron THAT guy is. He can’t even read copy correctly.
