What's your representative animal?

Used to be, I thought, the Blue Heron, but lately, it’s definitely been Hummingbird making itself known to us… tiny … fast… picky eaters - definitely spirit-like and incredible. According to some lame New Age site online I looked at, the Hummingbird is the totem animal that represents Love. Seems to fit the circumstances around here.

C’mon guess…
All the rabbits I have known have had strong personalities and a streak of individualism. They have all been quite intelligent and trainable, though capable of naughtyness.

Human, I hope.

Omegaman wasn’t quite specific enough to have that one claimed, correct?

I always associated myself with a snake because I like to hide until I DON’T!!! I also like to get people to eat things they are not supposed to but will contribute to their enlightenment. That may be more of a past kind of thing though.

My wife sees me as a stag, but she can’t quite articulate why.

Maybe now I see myself more as a wolf.

the bat. Possessed of amazing capabilities but unable to do common everyday things.

Although my online persona here is a gnu — or, rather, a specific gnu — my real life animal is the giraffe. I even made a self-portrait sculpture of myself as a giraffe (first damaged, now gone)

Most definitely a cat. I’m the slightly overweight tabby curled up in my special spot, stalking out of the room in a huff when there’s noise and commotion. I sit in the window seat and look at you with faint contempt, but I can unexpectedly sit on your lap and purr.

(Gillian Anderson was interviewed by a movie magazine once and asked this question and she said “a blue whale”. forgot why. It wasn’t a flippant answer and was kind of deep. Which is odd because even she said she wasn’t the brightest bulb on the tree.)

A grizzly. Well, more like a teddy bear.

An owl. I’m usually awake and active after the sun goes down. Owls also have that bibliophiliac meme going, and I’m quite a reader.

We had this discussion at one of those ‘team-bonding’ days that employers are so keen on, we had to decide as a group what animal best represented each of our colleagues.

They agreed that I was a fox, hopefully they meant that I’m smart, cunning and attractive not that I’m an annoying deceitful pest…

What? How did those hippies come up with that? Hummingbirds are nasty violent territorial critters. Aztec god of war, Huitzlpochtli (spelling?) is a hummingbird.

Me, probably a lemur. Or something.

I can’t think of any obvious personality traits for an amoeba or an octopus. Drat. :frowning:

Personality-wise I am most like a cocker spaniel. Blond, affectionate, and very loyal.

Hippies (well, modern day ones) also think Lilith is a lovely name - which it is, until you look up the meaning (night demon, vampire, etc.). I don’t think hippies are big on research.

Like your spirit animal? I googled that once for some long unremembered reason, took a couple of “find your spirit animal” quizzes, and got the following results (didn’t get even similar results on different quizzes):

Eagle
Moose
Rabbit

ETA that just picking my representative critter would end in the dog. I’m a big dog person.

Bear.

Oh, what a great fish that is. I’m reeeally jealous of your fish, Tamerlane.

Ahem. I have a great fondness for wolves, but have long been troubled by the fact that their commonly attributed qualities-- ferocity, cooperation, wildness, dignity, tenacity-- really don’t describe me in the least, even remotely.

However, I have since learned that the wolf pack structure typically includes a position known as the “omega,” whose job is basically to slink around on the fringes and get beaten up and urinated on by all the other wolves. So it seems to work out after all.

The squirrel is another distinct possibility, as I share its easily agitated demeanor, as well as the tendency to compulsively hoard things and then later forget where I put them.

Cocker spaniel (big ears, small face).

I’ve always thought of myself as a Bear. Yeah, I’m a big goofy Bear like Baloo

Sparrow. Both my exes called me “Woodstock.”

My totem cartoon animal is Wile E Coyote. I don’t know if people I know in real life would associate me with this animal but people online sure do.

Other animals I identify with, wolves, probably for the lone wolf aspect.

If you asked people I know what animal they think I am they’d probably pick a mouse, or a mouse lemur if they knew what they were.
