By the way, on the member registration page…it’s “highway,” not “hi-way.”

Airman Doors and I are twins, I guess. Not that it matters much.

I too am the superior being (can there be more than one of us? I think not. ExTank is clearly lying).
No need for bowing or saluting. To do so would imply that I acknowledge you at all.

Who would’ve guessed I was that eclectic?
Oh, and BoS? I don’t bow to anyone who mixes up “superior” and “supreme” in this context, so
The Happy Hunting Grounds are the third door on the left, the one that opens just over the edge of the cliff.

…although I suspect my phlegmatic component shoots up during the flu and allergy seasons.
Not that I know what any of it means. I just know the humors connected with 'em:
melancholy - black bile
choleric - yellow bile
sanguine - blood
phlegmatic - boogaz

BTW, at my last job we did this, but used slightly different (more understandable) terms:
[ul]
[li]Analytical = Melancholy: Detail oriented, emphasis on thinking(needs to be right)[/li][li]Driver = Choleric: Work oriented, emphasis on getting things done (needs decisiveness)[/li][li]Amiable = Phlegmatic: People oriented, emphasis on relationships(needs everyone to get along)[/li][li]Expressive = Sanguine: Creative, emphasis on communication(needs attention)[/li]
[/ul]
I liked this system better because
- The terms are more obvious when connected to the behavioral patterns (what does depression have to do with being logical?)
- The analysis we had done (called Social Styles) was done by polling other people, not self-report, which is notoriously flawed. In a sense, it was like a magic mirror, showing me how other people saw me.
- Hi, Opal!
- It has predictive value - know the social style of two people, and you will be able to predict what basic arguments they will have. Know the social style of your boss and you can direct how you give information to him in the way he prefers.
- With just a little training, it’s possible to read the social style for most people.
- Finally - every style adds some advantage to the group.
Can you imagine this board without purplebear or Scotticher(amiables)? Crunchy Frog, Scylla, or Chef Troy(expressives)? Manhattan or TubaDiva(driver)? pldennison(analytical)?
BTW, my social style is Expressive/Driver (Me? Want attention? Never!
)
