When did Dane Cook become the voice of the MLB postseason??

I don’t even think he’s an entertaining storyteller. Everything about his delivery screams “I’m trying to be funny!!!”.

I’ve laughed maybe twice at his standup. My husband and I tried to watch him on Comedy Central and couldn’t make it more than 5 minutes.

Is it a generational thing? Because I don’t get him, but he’s got a huge college following.

And let’s not lump him in with Bill Cosby. Bill is (or was) funny. Dane is (IMHO) not.

I’m bugged by the ad just because I can’t stand him. So, yeah I’m bringing my Dane Cook baggage.

MLB is encouraging fans to recreate their favorite big plays by “acting” like players in said plays. Now I’m sure you’re so excited to see them, you can’t stand it!

I wouldn’t mind Dane half as much if he’d just stick to comedy. They’re trying to convince us he’s a movie star and each movie he’s in sucks more than the last.

Dane Cook was just on the Opie and Anthony Show this morning and they were teasing him about the annoying commercials too. Dane said that even he got sick of seeing them broadcasted so much on TBS during the actual baseball games. He compared it to having a friend who kept calling you up and trying to invite you to a cool party while you’re like “Dude, I’m in the f’n kitchen already!”

I have to give Dane credit. I saw “Dan in Real Life” last weekend and he did a pretty good job in it.

Nice movie, by the way.

This may be of interest to people who’ve clicked into this thread.

ETA: I’m firmly in the “Dane Cook is a painfully unfunny douchebag” camp.

I haven’t seen any of his movies, but I plan on seeing Mr. Brooks.

HOWEVER – he’s a comedian I could actually see acting well. That’s what I like about his routine. . .he uses his eyes, his faces, his arms, his legs. . .he takes over the space he’s in. He modulates his voice. He expresses his emotions with his whole body. Maybe like a Jim Carrey used to do (and Jim Carrey’s best roles by far were Ace Ventura, Truman Show, and Dumb & Dumber.)

The first time I saw Dane Cook, I thought he’d make a good transition to acting.

I think he is funny. His stand up is hilarious but I have to admit his movies have not been too fantastic. I hate Sarah Silverman though and other people must like her because she continues to get work so I guess everyone has different opinions about what is funny.
