When did open hatred become fun family entertainment?

And you can turn it around as well. People are outraged, “look at the hate that President Obama has received!” But were they just as vocal at the treatment our previous president received?

Although I remember Russell Brand hosting the MTV awards and saying our then President was mentally retarded. I remember that when people had signs with Obama as Hitler it was a new level of hatred, but when Bush was portrayed as Hitler most of us didn’t complain.
With Clinton though I’m sure it was just as bad. You had Jerry Falwell supporting videos that alleged Clinton had Vince Foster murdered and was running cocaine as well, Rush Limbaugh comparing Chelsea Clinton to the White House dog, then later apologized and said she can’t help the way she looks.
Christopher Hitchens was calling then President Clinton a rapist. That’s just off the top of my head.

The Dixie Chicks were crucified for daring to say they were ashamed to be from Bush’s state, yet batshit crazy Ted Nugent spews the most hateful lies about Obama and the right just shrugs it off with “well, the Democrats do it too.” Like fucking hell we do.
[/QUOTE]

Well then boycott Ted Nugents concerts and albums. What do you expect from Dixie Chicks fans who are predominantly country music fans and who tend yo be conservative. Be mad the left isn’t vocal on these things that Ted Nugent says. I agree with you though that Nugent seems to be a despicable guy.

You know, if you are trying to get stronger wrists, masturbating is much more effective than all this hand waving.

Hey, maybe we won’t agree but if I can’t make you agree at least I can make you laugh.

I don’t know about that. Policies aside, a lot of people hated Bush because simply because he was a rich white Ivy League Republican oil billionaire who picked up the family political business.
The fact is, whether it’s meant to or not, putting on a caricature mask of Obama just looks pretty freakin’ racist.

How many are “very few”? Can you show that more think that Obama is Antichrist than thought that Bush was?

When did open hatred become fun family entertainment?

The moment there were two families.

Maybe. Can you give me a reason why I should care?

That would be difficult since conservatives tend to be much more religious than liberals. It’s very rare when I hear liberals citing Revelation. Or using scripture to support legislation. I think a more comparable example would be how many people compared Bush to Hitler or thought he would be like Hitler, and compare that to the Obama is the Anti Christ.

I said that to my wife after the first time I broached the topic of sex.

Oh, of course. But you could find that for any POTUS. It’s still “very few” on a national scale. One in five Republicans believe Obama is the Antichrist. 13% of Americans believe it. Thats a lot more than very few. Do you seriously think W ever measured that high on the Antichrist-meter? And the number of Republicans claiming Obama is a crypto-Muslim has doubled since 2008. And 64% of Pubs are still Birthers. Doesn’t all that make you ashamed of your party?

  1. I don’t think I used the term “very few”, so I don’t know what you are referencing.
  2. You are the one that claimed that your cites showed people that claimed that Bush was the Anti-Christ, and I corrected that error, and now you want me to compile statistics to help you prove your point? Do your own homework…and you might want to actually check out the links you provide next time.
schizophrenia.com-that was a real keeper.

Hi, Sicks Ate. Would you explain this sentence, please? Do it with little honest words, for the benefit of us simpletons.

Good. Now show the same poll asking Democrats the same question about Bush. You know, to compare.

I’d be ashamed if I was a Republican. I’d be ashamed if I was a Democrat. Am neither.

Not exactly, but kind of like the percentage of people who believed that Bush was in on 9/11 or knew it was going to happen.

You didn’t. The poster for whom I posted the links did. If you jump in at least you should bother to see the thread to which you’re responding.

And that percentage was…?

Anyone really interested in how the ravings of a demented monk became Scripture should read Elaine Pagel’s Revelations: Visions, Prophecy, and Politics in the Book of Revelation Just happen to have the Amazon link here:

Joe Bob **'luc **says “Check it out!”. Verily.

Well, ok - Obama is black. How do you make fun of him, mock him, parody him, lampoon him without being accused of racism?
We know the answer to that one already, but just thought I’d throw it out there.

True, that whole broomstick up the butt thing is more like Australian, right?
