Choice eight: take it home with me. I can’t think of anything more depressing than eating in a restaurant (a nice one) by myself. I don’t even like eating in restaurants, I prefer staying at home (preferably with a nice DVD on the set); the only upside to restaurant eating is the conversation. Almost all nice restaurants have wrap-to-go deals now.
My personalities and I find this offensive, we prefer booths too.
In reality, I’m a door facer to the point of paranoia. If there’s not a table that is near a wall with the ability to see a door, I’ll wait. When I’m with a group, I always try and snag a seat facing the door.
::shrug:: That’s my major social activity, and watching the bar crowd filter in at Fred 62 is about as much as you can have at 1am in LA, people-watching wise. (Original Pantry is a close second, Cantor’s a distant third, and it goes downhill from there. Swingers has better food than all the above, save for Fred, but it doesn’t really attract the interesting crowd.)
Personally, I can’t imagine bringing a meal home to eat. If I’m going to eat at home, I’ll cook.

Hee! I don’t know why I said “we” but I knew that we were talking about eating alone. I just like the bench seat of a booth better than an individual chair. But if the place is crowded, no way are they going to waste booth real estate on just me.
I had no idea other countries didn’t eat at the bar. Do you guys have any diner like places with a counter at the front you can eat on? They are sadly getting rare here outside of Truck stops built 60 years ago.
I almost always a sit at the bar guy, unless it’s a fancy place without a bar. Then they usually seem to have a table or two where they put singles by default . Usually in the corner and they indicate toward the seat facing out toward the door, the front windows, and most of the restauraunt, so they can keep the aisle as clear as possible.
When I was in the US, I pretty much was exclusivly eating at fancy places (including a $200 meal in Boston) and every time it was at the bar.
Ahhh Scouts, we know you were using the royal “we”, but we still luv ya.
