Yet another indication that I am older then dirt, I did a search on Dejanews, I found out that I first posted to alt.fan.cecil.adams in 1995. That got me wondering how many other people here started posting before the Straightdope was here or on AOL…
Keith
You’re older than me, Odie … my oldest afc-a post is in '98. Sorry I missed you there
HEY! Are you talking 'bout ME, Odie?
Hmphf.
I’m NOT older than dirt. I do, however, remember when it was under warranty.
Okay, I didn’t make that up. I think it was someone’s sig, but I could have heard it somewhere else. My memory is failing, and I forgot to take my Gingko Biloba today.

Hey!
Some of us are still roaming the internet, thank you very much…
Weird.
When Dinosaurs Roamed the Earth is on tonight, on AMC, in about 5 minutes.
But I’m still not that old.
Wow. How long has Straight Dope been on the 'net?
For that matter, have the Teeming Millions been around for longer, fighting ignorance since 1978?
Hm. Well, I first read a Straight Dope book when it was loaned to me in, I think, 1993. But back then, I was really only using Usenet to read alt.folklore.urban. Sorry.
On the straightdope or on the internet? I first got on the net in '86. Straightdope back about two years ago? Not sure on that one.
Oh, if we’re talking the SD before the internet, I’ve been reading the column since ~1986. The books as soon as I found them in the bookstore.
Column since near the beginning. Column here for about a year and a half. Posting since a year ago yesterday, I think.
And I heard there might actually be something to ginko biloba. God knows I need it.
On the net since the last half of '91. But the Straight Dope is a far more recent haunt.
AOL SDMB since…uh, whenever AmplSampl and MattBernst were posting.
[Harry Potter]
sssh! must not be named!
[/Harry Potter]
But I was posting to the internet (moderated mailing lists in the era before web browsers) back in 1991
(I got an email related to an old WMST-L posting I made back in 1991 just a couple months ago, in fact!)
