When do the 2009 new cars come out? Spring? Fall? Does it vary by make? If so, how can I find out when various makes start their model year? Thanks!
They pretty much come out whenever they are finished with their pre-production trials anymore. And they know 2 years in advance of when this will be. They often will release something in the spring and call it an MY09, even though in my mind it’s a MY08.5. There are various websites that follow pre-production cars and compete to provide pictures of them before they are bowed at an auto show. Lefthandlane.com comes to mind as being one of them.
When would you like them to come out? 
You can’t call a car built before 1/1/08 an 09 model. Other than that the field is pretty wide open.
Often a car maker will release a model earlier than normal to try to get a buzz going.
Historically car makers release next years models in about September or October. Foreign car makers usually release their cars a tad earlier, say August or early September.

Jinx, you do realize that FY (fiscal years), MY (model years), CL (calendar years), DY (dog years) and CNY (Chinese new years) are at best only loosely related to each other don’t you.?
I bought my 2007 Ford Escape last March. I had the option of buying the 08s which were already on the lot. I bought in the middle of March and I was surprised that they came out that early. They were willing to give us a much better price on the 07 so we took it.
